“The east tennessee vocal association is dedicated to advancing the cause of music education and excellence in choral music in the public and private schools in eastern tennessee.”

“All-east tennessee choirs - selected by audition, the all-east satb chorus, the all-east women's chorus, and the all-east men's chorus rehearse and perform under the direction of noted guest conductors from throughout the united states. In addition, there are also the all-east freshman honor chorus and the all-east middle school honor chorus. Student participation in these latter two choirs is by the selection and recommendation by the student's respective school's teacher. These two choirs also rehearse and perform under the direction of a noted conductor. There are over 1,000 students representing over 100 schools at this event.”

“Jb lyle choral festival - this festival is held in the spring of each year for one day in the chattanooga area, for two days in the knoxville area, and for one day in the greeneville area. The festival offers high schools the opportunity to perform for ratings and/or comments given by a panel of three choral adjucators and a sight-reading judge. Each choir that performs receives both written and recorded constructive critiques related to choral tone, intonation, diction, vocal technique, vocal balance, interpretation, musical effect, choice of music, and sight-reading accuracy. Over 40 schools participate in this event.”

“All-state choruses - students who participate in an all-state choir are drawn from the three vocal associations within tennessee: east tennessee vocal association, middle tennessee vocal association, and west tennessee vocal association. Students are selected for all-state on the basis of the highest all-east/state audition scores, having successfully participated in an all-east choir, and having passed their all-state screening auditions.”
