Organization'S Mission

(Continued from Form 990, Part III, line 1) Prison Fellowship's values are best described by the word RESTORE. Respect the dignity of all people Equip others to greater potential Serve with humility Trust through transparent collaboration Obey God and His Word Rely on prayer Excel in all we do Prison Fellowship's passion is believing communities can be made safer and healthier through a restorative approach to prisoners, former prisoners, and all those Affected by crime and incarceration. Birthed out of a national scandal, our ministry is founded on the conviction that all people are created in Gods image and that no life is beyond God's reach. As Christians we believe that jesus-himself brought to trial, executed, buried and brought to life again - offers hope, healing and a new purpose for each life. Even the most broken people and situations can be made whole again. Our Approach: We train and inspire churches and communities inside and outside of prison to support the restoration of those affected by incarceration. We equip wardens, prison staff, and volunteers, including men and women serving time, to create safer, more rehabilitative prisons that prepare prisoners to return to their communities as good neighbors. We advocate for a criminal justice system that upholds restorative values, so that communities are safer, victims are respected, and those who have caused harm are transformed. Outside prisons, we collaborate with churches, para-church organizations, and local service providers to support families with loved ones behind bars and people affected by crime. Through an amazing awakening to new hope and life purpose, those who once broke the law are transformed and mobilized to serve their neighbors, and the cycle of crime is replaced by a cycle of renewal. In-prison ministry (CONTINUED FROM FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A) At 23 of those facilities, we provide intensive seminary-level training and at 40 facilities we are delivering intensive reentry courses. At Christmas, we partnered with over 8,100 churches and organizations to serve over 330,000 Angel Tree Children. The program also served 22,600 children via mail and then provided scholarships for 5,500 Angel Tree Children to attend summer camps. We also answered more than 1,400 letters from prisoners. More than 2.2 million copies of our newsletter Jubilee were sent out and over 600,000 copies of our newsletter written for prisoners were sent to prisons.

review process of form 990

part vi, section b, line 11b a copy of the form 990 is provided to each board member prior to filing the return. the audit committee of the board of directors reviews, deliberates, and approves the form 990 before it is filed with the irs.

process for monitoring conflict of interest policy

part vi, section b, line 12c The board members submit conflict of interest (COI) questionnaires every twelve months. After initial review by the vice president of human resources, the SVP-Administration and the ceo make the determination of whether a conflict exists and what action is necessary to eliminate the conflict. In the event of an actual conflict, the conflicted person would not participate in discussions or approval of the related transaction. The employees also submit coi statements every eighteen months.

process for approving top management compensation

part vi, section b, line 15 Salaries for top management positions are set and regularly reviewed in accordance with the salary administration policies of prison fellowship ministries, which include periodic review of comparability data and contemporaneous substantiation of the deliberation and decision by the board. The Executive committee of the board of directors receives comparability data annually. Substantiation of deliberation and decisions are kept in the minutes of the meetings.

intended use of the organization's endowment funds: the organization intends to use its endowment fund to provide a predictable stream of funding to programs and to further the work of prison ministry.

part X line 2

financial statement footnote regarding uncertainties in tax positions: PFM evaluates uncertainty in income tax positions based on a more-likely-than-not recognition standard. If that threshold is met, the tax position is then measured at the largest amount that is greater than 50% likely of being realized upon ultimate settlement. As of June 30, 2015 and 2014, there are no accruals for uncertain tax positions. If applicable, the Organization records interest and penalties as a component of income tax expense. Tax years from 2012 through the current year remain open for examination by tax authorities.
