Governance Explanations

Member election for additional members Part VI line 7A

Elected members: twelve(12) members are elected and serve as follows: four (4) of the twelve (12) elected board members are elected annually, each to serve for three (3) years. Appointed members: one (1) board member from each of the seven municipalities in dickson county, to wit:dickson county, city of dickson, city of white bluff, city of vanleer, city of charlotte, city of burns, city of slayden. Each of the above municipalities shall appoint its own representative to serve on the board. Failure to appoint a representative shall mean that the board seat shall remain vacant until such time that the municipality appoints its representative. The chairman of teh dickson county industrial development board, or its designee, shall automatically be a member of the board.

The chamber is dedicated to improving and promoting the quality of life in dickson county by working to enhance workforce development, education,transportation, small business, leadership and community service. Form 990, part iii-additional informationother program services revenue-see schedule attached. Form 990, part iii, line 4d-all other accomplishmenteducation edge:education edge is an on-going program of the dickson county chamber of commerce. It orginated as the state of tennessees implementation of the federal school-to-work opportunities act of 1994. The purpose of this act was to promote school and business partnerships that would provide young people with the necessary skills and knowledge for tomorrows workplace. Each county partnership decided locally how to best achieve this goal. The dickson county education edge partnership was originally funded through the state of tennessees share of a federal grant. It is now a program of the dickson county chamber of commerce. Form 990, part iii, line 4d- part 2the dickson county partnership meets with representatives from many segments of the community to identify local goals. It is governed by a sterring committee of citizens, business people, and educators. Agriculture and agri-tourism:dickson county is placed in the center of tennessee and is known for richness in glorious scenery and a hearty farming environment. We have everything from creek bottom farms to dairy farms to tobacco farms. Dickson countys rich agri-tourism experiences await you. We offer living history farms, rural bed and breakfasts, and a vibrant farmers market which includes crafts. You can even participate in fall activities with corn mazes, pumpkin patches, hayrides, sorghum and apple butter making.
