Additional Explanations

Baptist Memorial Hospital-memphis and Its Employees Have Won

Several national awards for quality and service, including: - recognized by the american heart association for their stroke care. Joint commission award: - designated by the joint commission as a key performer on key quality measures for heart attack, heart failure, and pneumonia, as well as surgical care and perinatal care. American heart association: - recipient of the american heart association/american stroke association's get with the guidelines target: stroke honor roll elite plus silver plus quality achievement award. Tennessee nurses' association's outstanding employer award: - earned the tennessee nurses' association's outstanding employer award for its commitment to nurses and nursing excellence. Baptist memorial hospital-memphis' pharmacy department recently won the tennessee society of health-system pharmacists' innovative health-system pharmacy practice award. The award is given annually to a pharmacy department staff in a hospital with more than 100 beds in recognition of efforts that advanced the level of pharmacy services within the past two years. Over the last few years baptist memorial hospital-memphis has moved to a decentralized model, allowing many of the pharmacists to move from the inpatient area out to the floors. By making this move, hospital pharmacists are more visible, more involved, and more immediately available to nurses and ancillary staff. The inpatient staff assists with providing services to the ambulatory care center, stem cell center, cardiac services as well as off-site physician practices. The baptist memorial hospital-memphis campus offers two libraries that provide journals, books, as well as meeting and study space for baptist team members, physicians, patients, and the public. Both facilities were made possible through gifts to baptist memorial health care foundation, inc. The dr. Maury w. Bronstein health sciences library, located on the concourse level at baptist memorial hospital-memphis, opened in 1998 in honor of the long-time baptist internist and cardiologist. Baptist memorial hospital for women is only one of fifteen freestanding women's hospitals in america. It was designed entirely to meet the needs of women through every stage of life, from childbirth to menopause. Research shows that women make 80 percent of the decisions on health care and baptist wanted to design a facility to specifically meet the needs of women and children. The hospital's quality metrics are compared to those of the nation's premier institutions, and consistently outperform the benchmarks in these comparative measures. Baptist memorial hospital for women has protocols for early identification and treatment of maternal hemorrhages and hypertension in pregnancy and are recognized as regional models. Baptist memorial hospital for women is also a primary teaching site with its own obstetrics and gynecology residency program with 20 approved resident slots through acgme. The beautiful beginnings program provides maternity education throughout pregnancy and 52 weeks after birth through a website or free downloadable app. The site and free app have over 300 topics covering stages of labor, wellness for mom and baby and is disseminated every tuesday with a relevant milestone. The beautiful beginnings program also has postpartum support groups and a warm line staffed with nurses to answer questions or concerns. For more information, please reach out to [email protected]. Baptist memorial hospital for women is also the site for most women's cancer related services within the baptist cancer center. Our women's health center is the region's premier program for breast health, and was the first site to offer mobile mammography, seed localization, contrast enhanced mammography for patients with dense breast tissue, and the first site to achieve certification by the national accreditation program for breast centers (napbc). A recent expansion of the women's health center allows for more space, timelier appointments for screening mammograms, bone density exams and contrast enhanced mammography. The added space allows four nurse navigators to utilize a resource room with breast cancer care, health, and survivorship information. This library is filled with books, pamphlets and a computer to review genetic risks, care plans and general topics. The women's health center has blossom within and living beyond breast cancer support groups for breast cancer patients. Annually, the hospital hosts a baby and kids fair in april to provide resources and education to expecting mothers, new families and children. Guests can learn from area dentists, doctors, and nurses about what to expect when laboring, car seat safety, breastfeeding, doula support, available funds and incentives for healthcare and so much more. For more information, please email [email protected]. The team members of the women's and children's hospital have an annual learning event for high school juniors and seniors. The crash course camp is held in the summer to showcase different career paths in healthcare. Students receive a bag with scrubs, a stethoscope, a blood pressure cuff and other essentials to learn about pharmacy, lab, radiology, respiratory, and nursing. This hands-on experience is always a huge success with full classes and great reviews. For more information visit www.baptistonline.org/about/volunteer/crash-course-camp.
