Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Spaying and neutering of our rescue dogs as well as dogs owned by homeless or low-income owners. We were able to spay or neuter close to 130 dogs who probably would remain unaltered without the combination of our outreach and the available funds. We believe that altering makes for healthier and better behaved dogs also less wandering which keeps them from being picked up by Animal Control and reduces the number of abandoned and unwanted puppies coming in to the shelter. Several of the females that were spayed were in heat preventing unplanned litters.$5,500$53,534
Re-uniting dogs who end up in the shelter with their owners. We help pay fees for homeless and low-income people to be able to reunite with their dogs that are in the shelter. In order for us to help the owner must get the dog spayed neutered RPR will help pay for it. Re-uniting these dogs with their owners also helps to save the lives of the dogs in our over-crowded shelter as they do not have to be euthanized for space. We were able to help reunite over 80 dogs.$0$16,465
Providing medical care for our rescue dogs as well as dogs owned by homeless or low-income owners. We were able to provide needed medical assistance to homeless and low income dog owners. Often these were desperate calls from owners in the evening with dogs needing emergency care. We work closely with the homeless population and an organization called Pets of the Homeless which pays vets directly for medical care of pets owned by homeless individuals. However these costs need to be pre-approved and the organization is based in Nevada Mountain time and only available M-F. This leaves a gap of when emergency care is needed and can not wait until a representative from Pets of the Homeless can be reached. We were also able to help low-income owners who are not covered by Pets of the Homeless. We were able to provide medical care for 35 dogs.$2,773$12,900
Other Program Services we offer include: 1 Finding fosters for abandoned or homeless-owned litters of puppies until they are weaned and well-socialized and then transporting to our rescue partners; 2 Providing vaccinations food jackets leashes and collars for homeless owned dogs; 3 Providing emergency boarding for dogs that need to get out of the shelter to save their lives; 4 Providing training and enrichment for our rescue dogs and shelter dogs.$0$12,778
