Kasilof Public Library

“Dear IRS, Kasilof Public Library ceased operations in 2021. It took us until April 2022 to resolve our situation to the point of final liquidation. Our final 990 is late because I could not obtain a 2022 Form 990-EZ and Schedule N. 2022 versions were not available on-line from the IRS. I tried periodically from June through September. I also tried to find one at an Electronic Filing vendor and they did not offer 2022 versions of the forms. I tried calling the IRS Exempt phone line and could not get through. Later on I called the IRS regular forms line. After a couple of hours I got through to a very nice woman but she could not tell me anything about the exempt forms. At that point I decided to wait until January 2022 as I figured the forms would have to be available then, and indeed, they were.”

“The Kasilof Public Library was a tiny organization located within the school library at Tustumena Elementary School. As a result, we had very little in the way of physical assets and those were left in place.”
