“Section 4a - continued news and publications: headwaters magazine, produced three times per year, is water education colorado's flagship publication, covering the most pressing water issues in colorado with compelling, impartial reporting and storytelling. Headwaters is distributed throughout the state of colorado and beyond, reaching over 7,500+ people with each issue. Water education colorado's high-quality reference guide series of citizen's guides boasts ten guides to different water topics, which are used in a variety of educational settings, including workshops, seminars, member events, community programming, college curriculums, and more. Each edition has a shelf life of 5+ years. More than 2,500+ guides are distributed each year. Fresh water news is an independent, nonpartisan news initiative launched by weco in 2018 to provide timely, in-depth coverage of water issues across colorado and the west. Since its launch, fresh water news has published original reporting on a weekly basis. Fresh water news has approximately 5,200 weekly subscribers, and fwn articles are also republished by numerous media partners across colorado. Weco also offers a variety of other digital resources, including a blog, webinars, fact sheets and more. Section 4b - continued water education colorado's annual river basin tour takes legislators and other public officials, water managers, educators and members of the public on a multi-day tour of a river basin in colorado. Participants have the opportunity to gain an on-the-ground understanding of the history, water management practices, and current challenges of the local watersheds. Various smaller tours, workshops and webinars held throughout the year shine the spotlight on a wide variety of current water issues.the sustaining colorado watersheds conference convenes 250 professionals annually to share their work in order to expand cooperation and collaboration throughout colorado in natural resource conservation, protection and enhancement. The water educator network is an affiliate group of education and outreach professionals convened and supported by weco to enhance the amount, quality and effectiveness of water education across the state. Collaboration, resource sharing, and professional development opportunities are all benefits of this program, which also includes access to project wet curriculum. In 2022, water education colorado spearheaded the water '22 public awareness campaign, a year-long initiative dedicated to raising awareness of the value of water, risks to sustainability, our role as a headwaters state, and simple actions coloradans can take to conserve and protect water quality. Section 4c - continued leadership programs: the water leaders program trains 20 water industry professionals each year in leadership skills, and has graduated more than 262 leaders since 2006. The water leaders program positively impacts the colorado water profession by developing a pipeline of skilled water leaders across diverse fields ready to chart the path forward to innovative and collaborative water solutions in an increasingly complex world. The water fluency program provides participants with a practical understanding of colorado water resource issues and the related implications to local decision-making processes. Participants learn through a combination of expert speaker presentations, peer discussion, reading assignments and intersession applications of learning. Water fluency reaches 35 elected officials, city and county staff, board members, community leaders, and educators each year.”
