“A draft copy of the tax return is presented to the executive committee for approval.”
“Conflict of interest disclosure forms are used annually.”
“Governing documents, policies, financial and tax reports are available to the public upon request.”
“As an independent organization, we will create and sustain an endowment to provide resources in support of effective teaching, learning and school management. We have an exceptional relationship with our school district, credibility with teachers, and strong momentum with our business community.”
“The annual teacher grants are awarded district-wide to teachers and principals who seek support for education programs not otherwise funded. Grants are awarded based on innovation, creativity, collaboration and impact of student learning. Since 2003, approximately 700 grants have been awarded, totaling a direct investment in our classrooms of more than 1.7 million. Nationwide, 44% of children entering kindergarten test below proficiency for learning readiness, and data verifies that children who start behind, stay behind. The ready program provides parents of children up to 5 years old with instruction, books and educational toys to help their children achieve success at the very start. Currently 90% of children in the program now enter school testing at or above readiness levels. As an independent organization, panhandle alliance for education funds an endowment with assets held and administered by a community foundation to provide perpetual funding in support of the lake pend oreille school district. With 16 years of promoting excellence in public schools, panhandle alliance for education is proud to have delivered over 3,625,000 in grants and educational programs to the lake pend oreille school district.”
“Pafe's teacher grants are awarded on an annual basis to teachers who compete for available funds. Awards are based on innovation, collaboration, impact on education, and a cost benefit analysis. Examples include classroom technology, lab and safety equipment, musical instruments, robotics, math and book clubs, and more. There were 41 teacher grants awarded benefitting 3500 students. We also provided 20,000 for instructional coaches. These coaches are considered to be one of the most powerful assets to modern education. Coaches are a vital resource for all educators in the lpo school district. They instruct all teachers to be the best they can possibly be, because effective teachers matter more to student achievement than any other aspect of schooling. This program served approximately 300 teachers in the lpo school district with two coaches.”
“English language arts curriculum. Closing the reading gap: a follow up on inglish lanuage arts research is clear: if children cannot read proficiently by the end of third grade, they face daunting hurdles to success in school and beyond. We knew the impact of supporting the new proposed english language arts (ela) program would be significant, as lposd has 1,900 students and 80 staff members in grades k-6. Pafe committed to funding 75,000 for k-6 ela curriculum and 20,000 for teacher professional development. The grant included three key components: 1. A new curriculum (readygen) that would be implemented consistently throughout the schools and across the district. 2. A supplemental curriculum for grades k-2 to build foundational literacy skills. 3. Literacy training days for all teachers in grades k-2, which focused on foundational reading skills. Our teachers and staff committed to researching and piloting the new curriculum and providing feedback. The supplemental training, enhanced core reading instruction (ecri), helped the teachers develop new behaviors to increase the effectiveness of the new curriculum. Teachers like the efficiency of the routines and the repeated practice that their students get. Sudents benefit from the repeated practice and exposure, as well as the blending and segmenting practice. Students are much more proficient on sight words than in years past, and more comfortable reading and writing independently. The results are promising: lposd's k-3 reading proficiency score on the idaho reading indicator (the state's required reading assessment for grades k-3) increased from 51 percent in fall 2018 to almost 78 percent in spring of 2019. A 27 percent gain all elementary grades in lposd (grades 3-6) beat the state average on the ela idaho standards achievement test (isat). Each cohort of lposd elementary students improved in reading proficiency from spring 2018 to spring 2019. Together, we are closing the reading gap”
“Provided funding in the amount of 200,000 for endowments held by the idaho community foundation and the innovia foundation for perpetual funding of our operating grants for the lake pend oreille school district. It is an example of our long-term commitment to our mission. We also provided various other grants and scholarships throughout the year.”
“Change in endowment funds 180,098”
“To provide funds to teachers and schools in support of effective teaching, learning and school management.”

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc | 0 | ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS CURRICULUM. TOGETHER, WE ARE CLOSING THE READING GAP |
