“The endeavor program - the carriage house endeavor program provides a cost-effective, comprehensive program and scholarships for young children diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities in our area. The endeavor program, one of our fastest growing programs, is a partnership with carriage house therapeutic preschool. It is a year-round, clinical program which features a unique combination of early childhood education and applied behavior analysis embedded within a developmentally appropriate and natural group environment. Endeavor offers a 2:1 child/adult ratio ensuring intense positive interactions, instructional guidance, and a nurturing safe place to grow. Carriage house was founded in 1969 and now focuses on serving children ages 1 to 6 years with special needs alongside their typically developing peer group. Its partnership with feat of louisville has been going strong for 20 years and more important than ever. With over 100 children on the endeavor program waiting list, the need for service expansion is significant, and we have recently expanded the endeavor program's facility by 5,100 square feet, offering 1 additional inclusive preschool room and six new clinical endeavor groups which opened in jan 2025. Early diagnosis and intervention, as well as ongoing supports, are critical in achieving the best outcomes for individuals with asd. The endeavor program is such an important part of our overall mission and strategy of helping our youngest children with asd learn and thrive. The center for disease control estimates that 1 in 31 children will be diagnosed with autism. This statistic, released by the cdc in 2023, is an increase from the previous rate of 1 in 44 children, reflecting an overall improvement in outreach, screening, and de-stigmatization of autism diagnosis. Based on these statistics, approximately 266 children with autism are born in louisville each year. Research has proven that early intervention is the key to lifelong success. Young brains contain more neuroplasticity, which is the ability to learn and change behavior. Accessing early intervention within the first five years of life dramatically reduces the lifelong costs of a child with autism. Unfortunately, our community does not have enough providers to serve the growing demand for autism early intervention. Housing a clinical program alongside an inclusive preschool with typically developing peers is truly what makes carriage house and the endeavor program so unique. Even our children who are still working to build the foundational skills to be successful in the large group environment are provided with opportunities during the day for peer modeling. The goal of the clinical program is to build the foundational skills required to slowly transition from the clinical environment into the inclusive preschool and then on to their next educational stop in the least restrictive environment.”
“In 2011, feat spearheaded the autism friendly community, a group of more than 40 local providers who have the same mission, to help those with autism, but desire to see more happen in our community. Today, with more than 60 providers, we are working to ensure there are no gaps in services, preparing our community for the influx of those with autism who are aging out of the system, and working to make louisville and beyond "autism friendly cities." the rate of autism has increased approximately 384% since 2000. Currently, 1 in 31 children in the united states are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (asd). There is treatment that can help but there is currently no known cause or cure for this developmental condition. Nearly half of 25- year-olds with autism have never held a paying job. The autism friendly business initiative (afbi) is a training program designed by families for effective autism treatment (feat) to build a community of local businesses that are dedicated to the inclusion of people with autism spectrum disorder asd in all aspects of life from awareness, appreciation and acceptance to employment. Asd can impact the way a person communicates and interacts with others, families impacted by asd often report feeling alienated or unwelcome in public spaces. The afbi will equip your organization - no matter its shape or size - with the tools necessary to better serve the asd population. It teaches your team techniques to recognize signs of asd and better communicate with people who exhibit those signs. When team members understand how to react, families feel accepted. When families find businesses they can depend on, businesses gain customers for life. Feat has a dedicated program manager for the afbi program who is currently using an outdated computer. One of the new laptops would be used to manage the program and recruit new businesses. This program is currently in 18 states and we have trained almost 600 businesses since the program launched in 2017. The pre-vocational training program is such a vital part of feat of louisville's mission, helping individuals develop the communicative, daily living, and job readiness skills required to function as independently as possible. These skills are taught in a school-like setting and through community-based instruction.”

THE GOAL OF THE CLINICAL PROGRAM IS TO BUILD THE FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED TO SLOWLY TRANSITION FROM THE CLINICAL ENVIRONMENT INTO THE INCLUSIVE PRESCHOOL AND THEN ON TO THEIR NEXT EDUCATIONAL STOP IN THE LEAST RESTRICTIVE ENVIRONMENT. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc | 0 | IN 2011, FEAT SPEARHEADED THE AUTISM FRIENDLY COMMUNITY, A GROUP OF MORE THAN 40 LOCAL PROVIDERS WHO HAVE THE SAME MISSION, TO HELP THOSE WITH AUTISM, BUT DESIRE TO SEE MORE HAPPEN IN OUR COMMUNITY. THESE SKILLS ARE TAUGHT IN A SCHOOL-LIKE SETTING AND THROUGH COMMUNITY-BASED INSTRUCTION. |
