A third party cpa firm prepares and reviews the return before forwarding to the finance/audit committee for further review and approval. The entire board receives a copy of the 990 prior to its filing.

Board members are given a list of the top vendors utilized by the agency. Conflict of interest and the appearance of the same is discussed frequently as a responsibility of the board. If potential conflicts arise, each case is handled on a case by case basis.

Welcome house, a related entity, compensated the executive director. The executive director has an annual performance evaluation. Board and management staff complete evaluation forms. The input is given directly to the board chair who compiles the information and then shares with the executive committee and the board. The executive committee researched compensation comparison to the market (united way wage and salary compensation report). The executive committee makes recommendations to the board for any change in compensation.
