The cain center apartments d/b/a brown-mackinnon apartments is managed by cain center for the disabled, inc., a professional property management company. Cain center for the disabled has a project owner's and management agent's certification for multifamily housing project owners with the u.s. Department of housing and urban development. Under this certification, hud has approved cain center for the disabled to manage the the cain center apartments d/b/a brown-mackinnon apartments. The management contract encompasses the day to day operations of the project including, but not limited to, collection of rents, maintenance of facilities, supervision of staff, and ongoing support for both the owners and tenants as needed in order to establish a safe, sanitary and affordable environment.

The auditing firm sends a draft of the return to the management company. A board of directors meeting is scheduled to review the 990.

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization is exempt from federal, kentucky and local income taxes as a not-for-profit corporation as described under internal revenue code section 501(c)(3). The organization files an informational tax return in the u.s. Federal jurisdiction. However, income from certain activities not directly related to the organization's tax-exempt purpose may be subject to taxation as unrelated business income. Management does not believe that the organization has unrelated business income for the years ended march 31, 2025 and 2024. As of march 31, 2025 and 2024, the organization did not have any accrued interest or penalties related to income tax liabilities, and no interest or penalties have been charged to operations for the years then ended.
