A brief explanation of form 990 is made by the board treasurer and all concerns or questions of board members are addressed by the treasurer, board president and/or executive director. Any unresolved questions are referred to the present auditing firm for further clarification or discussion.”

“Board members must sign a conflict of interest statement annually. All employees are responsible for avoiding potential situations, which could be perceived as a conflict of interest. The organization expects all employees to disclose any potential conflicts of interest during the application process as well as throughout their employment.”

“Compensation for the executive director is determined by duties assigned relative to other inner-agency salaries, budget constraints, and executive committee deliberation. Informal knowledge of other similar non-profit human service agencies in the community is also considered when determining compensation.”

“The audit for 9.30.2024 has not been completed as of the date the form 990 was filed. However, every three years the chair of finances of the board of directors will propose to the executive committee that the audit be put out for bid or propose to renew the audit with the present company for some extended period of time. The executive committee will discuss the options and vote on the procedure to then be recommended to the board of directors. The board of directors will receive the proposal from the executive committee and have opportunity to discuss, then to either ratify or change the vote. The executive committee will review the bids and select the auditor for the agency and present their decision to the board of directors. Prior to starting the audit, the board chair and executive director will meet with the auditing firm to review the process for the audit. When the audit is completed a draft of the audit will be presented to the executive committee by the auditor for review. If there are issues that need to be addressed they will be handled at this meeting. The executive committee will vote to receive audit as presented and discussed. Finally, the finance chair will present the audit to the board of directors, unless it is decided that the auditing firm make this presentation to the board of directors. The board will vote to receive the audit. Kentucky refugee ministries is in the process of undergoing the required audit, but the audit has not been finalized as of the date the form 990 has been filed.”
