The organization strongly encourages each member of the board, committees, and staff to consider all personal and professional affiliations with regards to their leadership positions within kaeps. This is reiterated at meetings and the executive committee and executive director monitor all kaeps transactions and dealings for potential conflicts. In the event of a conflict, a recusal is required for the board member with the conflict of interest.”

During these meetings, the executive director's compensation is discussed, and based upon the performance review, recommendations are made by executive committee for any changes to the compensation package. These recommendations are brought to the entire board of directors at the annual meeting, and a vote of the board is required for the compensation package, with any changes, to be approved. An in-person discussion of the performance review and compensation package is then conducted between the board of directors and the executive director.”
