DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Community Service (Make A Difference Day) is an annual event held on the last Saturday of October, where PDEC identified a need among the homeless Community in Escambia County Service and donated toiletries and other items for homeless shelter, and goods/service at no cost to the community entities. PDEC received a $5,000 grant from the "Ascend Cares Foundation" in support of the "Make A Difference Day" program. PDEC in colloboration with the Pensacola Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was able to purchase school clothing and other items for Kindergarten - Middle School children attending C.A. Weis Elementary, Ensley Elementary, Bratt Elementary and Ferry Pass Middle School(s). Items purchased and distributed included jeans, tops, light jackets, jeggings, socks, underwear, shoes, toiletries, laundry detergents, games, books schools supplies and similar items for the Homeless Closets/Departments that are maintained at the School District's Title One (1) office at Spencer Bibbs Center. Some items such as games and books were placed at the homeless shelters where children live and have little or no access to games, books and other materials in the commonly used area.$5,000$5,000
Cotillion-Scholarship: The Cotillion is an annual scholarship awards ceremony where graduating seniors of the Delta GEMS program are awarded academic scholarships to their respective college or university that they will be matriculating in. The participants of the Cotillion are presented to the public through a display of their academic, cultural, and artistic talents. Scholarship awarded in 2022: $1,500.00$1,500$1,500
The Delta GEMS is a program that PDEC participated in collaboration with the Pensacola Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., of adolescent girls aged 14-18 years of age. The GEMS program focus is on college and career planning through mentorship, service-learning projects, and goal setting. PDEC received a "Dollars for Doers Grant" in November 2021 from the Navy Federal Credit Union in support of the Delta GEMS. The funds were used to provide more community service as well as purchase educational materials for youth in the community in 2022.$1,000$996
Snacky Spring Break Project - March 12, 2022: PDEC received a $250.00 gift card from the "Publix Super Markets, Inc.," that was used to purchase snacks and drinks. PDEC also received an in-kind donation of 50 drawstring backpacks from the Members First Credit Union and 59 bags from "Bank of America" for the referenced project as well. PDEC received monetary donations totaling $750.00 which were used to purchase snacks and drinks and were packaged in the backpacks and bags and distributed to youth in the local community. Additionally, snacks and drinks were distributed to 80 youths at the Boys and Girls Club of Pensacola. PDEC's first Snacky Spring Break served 189 youths in the local community. Nine (9) volunteers worked the event for a total of 20.5 service hours.$750$723
We Care - June 2022: PDEC received a grant from the City of Pensacola in support of the We Care Program. PDEC in collaboration with the Pensacola Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was able to purchase 50 ($10.00) gift cards to the Englewood All-In-One Restaurant which were given out in gift bags which included snacks, non-skid/slip proof footies, informational flyers and prizes (door wreaths) to local Senior Citizens in our community during the "We Care Drive By" at the Pensacola Delta Enrichment Center.$500$500
The Delta Academy is a program that PDEC participated in collaboration with the Pensacola Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., for girls 11-14 years of age. The Delta Academy program provided service-learning opportunities, social skills building workshops, and other educational, cultural, and artistic activities. PDEC received a grant from the City of Pensacola in support of the Delta Academy. PDEC purchased gift cards and books from Amazon as well as from a local author (in Pensacola) which were distributed to the young ladies in Delta Academy.$500$260
PDEC assisted in the planning, preparation and participated in the Belmont-DeVillier's Heritage Festival held in November 2022. This also included soliciting, securing and registering volunteers as well as media advertisement for the event. No cost was expended by PDEC for this event only volunteer labor hours were required.$0$0

PDEC in colloboration with the Pensacola Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was able to purchase school clothing and other items for Kindergarten - Middle School children attending C.A. Weis Elementary, Ensley Elementary, Bratt Elementary and Ferry Pass Middle School(s). Items purchased and distributed included jeans, tops, light jackets, jeggings, socks, underwear, shoes, toiletries, laundry detergents, games, books schools supplies and similar items for the Homeless Closets/Departments that are maintained at the School District's Title One (1) office at Spencer Bibbs Center. Some items such as games and books were placed at the homeless shelters where children live and have little or no access to games, books and other materials in the commonly used area.

The GEMS program focus is on college and career planning through mentorship, service-learning projects, and goal setting. PDEC received a "Dollars for Doers Grant" in November 2021 from the Navy Federal Credit Union in support of the Delta GEMS. The funds were used to provide more community service as well as purchase educational materials for youth in the community in 2022.

PDEC also received an in-kind donation of 50 drawstring backpacks from the Members First Credit Union and 59 bags from "Bank of America" for the referenced project as well. PDEC received monetary donations totaling $750.00 which were used to purchase snacks and drinks and were packaged in the backpacks and bags and distributed to youth in the local community. Additionally, snacks and drinks were distributed to 80 youths at the Boys and Girls Club of Pensacola. PDEC's first Snacky Spring Break served 189 youths in the local community. Nine (9) volunteers worked the event for a total of 20.5 service hours.

PDEC in collaboration with the Pensacola Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was able to purchase 50 ($10.00) gift cards to the Englewood All-In-One Restaurant which were given out in gift bags which included snacks, non-skid/slip proof footies, informational flyers and prizes (door wreaths) to local Senior Citizens in our community during the "We Care Drive By" at the Pensacola Delta Enrichment Center.

PDEC received a grant from the City of Pensacola in support of the Delta Academy. PDEC purchased gift cards and books from Amazon as well as from a local author (in Pensacola) which were distributed to the young ladies in Delta Academy.
