IN 1997, 18 RESIDENTS WHO CARED ABOUT SHAPING THEIR CITY'S FUTURE ESTABLISHED THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF GREATER LAKELAND. FOUR YEARS LATER,COMMUNITY-MINDED CITIZENS OF WINTER HAVEN PARTNERED WITH THE LAKELAND GROUP TO CREATE THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF GREATER WINTER HAVEN. THESE FOUNDATIONS HAVE PROVEN TO BE REPUTABLE, EFFICIENT PLACES TO INVEST DOLLARS THAT GROW TO DO TREMENDOUS GOOD. IN 2014, THE DECISION WAS MADE TO COMBINE THEIR RESOURCES AND FORM ONE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, THE GIVEWELL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, THAT IS CAPABLE OF DOING EVEN GREATER WORK THROUGHOUT THE POLK COUNTY REGION AND BEYOND. TO DATE, WE HAVE OVER 200 FUNDS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED BY INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, CORPORATIONS, PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS, ORGANIZATIONS, AND MUNICIPALITIES FOR CHARITABLE GIVING. PROVIDING IMPACTFUL GIVING IN OUR COMMUNITY, GIVEWELL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANTED 11.6 MILLION IN THE 2014 -2015 FISCAL YEAR AND HAS GRANTED 114 MILLION SINCE INCEPTION. THIS FISCAL YEAR, OVER 1,000 INDIVIDUALS, ORGANIZATIONS AND AGENCIES MADE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE GIVEWELL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION. WITH THE NEW NAME AND BRANDING EFFORTS, OUR COMMUNICATION EFFORTS AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH HAVE BEEN A SIGNIFICANT FOCUS. THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION'S WEBSITE WAS OVERHAULED TO BE MORE USER-FRIENDLY, TRANSPARENT, AND A GREATER RESOURCE FOR THE COMMUNITY. NEW ADVERTISING AND MARKETING MATERIALS, INCLUDING AD PLACEMENTS IN LOCAL PUBLICATIONS, WERE DEVELOPED TO REFLECT THE NEW NAME, COUNTY-WIDE SERVICE AREA AND CURRENT SERVICES. SOCIAL MEDIA IS ALSO ACTIVELY UTILIZED TO COMMUNICATE NEWS, PROMOTE EVENTS AND OTHERWISE DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH OUR COMMUNITY. WE STRIVE TO MAINTAIN A PUBLIC SUPPORT TEST ABOVE 33 1/3 ONCE AGAIN. IN 1997, 18 RESIDENTS WHO CARED ABOUT SHAPING THEIR CITY'S FUTURE ESTABLISHED THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF GREATER LAKELAND. FOUR YEARS LATER,COMMUNITY-MINDED CITIZENS OF WINTER HAVEN PARTNERED WITH THE LAKELAND GROUP TO CREATE THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF GREATER WINTER HAVEN. THESE FOUNDATIONS HAVE PROVEN TO BE REPUTABLE, EFFICIENT PLACES TO INVEST DOLLARS THAT GROW TO DO TREMENDOUS GOOD. IN 2014, THE DECISION WAS MADE TO COMBINE THEIR RESOURCES AND FORM ONE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, THE GIVEWELL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, THAT IS CAPABLE OF DOING EVEN GREATER WORK THROUGHOUT THE POLK COUNTY REGION AND BEYOND. TO DATE, WE HAVE OVER 200 FUNDS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED BY INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, CORPORATIONS, PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS, ORGANIZATIONS, AND MUNICIPALITIES FOR CHARITABLE GIVING. PROVIDING IMPACTFUL GIVING IN OUR COMMUNITY, GIVEWELL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANTED 11.6 MILLION IN THE 2014 -2015 FISCAL YEAR AND HAS GRANTED 114 MILLION SINCE INCEPTION. THIS FISCAL YEAR, OVER 1,000 INDIVIDUALS, ORGANIZATIONS AND AGENCIES MADE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE GIVEWELL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION. WITH THE NEW NAME AND BRANDING EFFORTS, OUR COMMUNICATION EFFORTS AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH HAVE BEEN A SIGNIFICANT FOCUS. THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION'S WEBSITE WAS OVERHAULED TO BE MORE USER-FRIENDLY, TRANSPARENT, AND A GREATER RESOURCE FOR THE COMMUNITY. NEW ADVERTISING AND MARKETING MATERIALS, INCLUDING AD PLACEMENTS IN LOCAL PUBLICATIONS, WERE DEVELOPED TO REFLECT THE NEW NAME, COUNTY-WIDE SERVICE AREA AND CURRENT SERVICES. SOCIAL MEDIA IS ALSO ACTIVELY UTILIZED TO COMMUNICATE NEWS, PROMOTE EVENTS AND OTHERWISE DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH OUR COMMUNITY. ALSO, THE GIVEWELL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION STAFF IS ENGAGED IN THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT IN LOCAL SERVICE CLUBS, PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMUNITY INITIATIVES. |
