“Coastal clean-up: volunteers clean wakulla county waterways which includes sinkholes, rivers, and the coastline. The sheriff's office litter control units remove the trash and dispose of it. Great american cleanup: during march, april and may, kwcb follows keep america beautiful's public awareness campaign with county-wide litter reduction activities, school education, newspaper articles, environmental festivals & events, & hazardous waste disposal coordination. Adopt-a-road: volunteers "adopt" part of our roadways and clean their sections 4 times each year. Currently 42 local roads adopted with 128 miles of roadway. Kwcb provides bags, gloves and free disposal cards. Litter control: we work with the county commissioners, public works and sheriff's office litter control units to the benefit of our county and residents. A total of 22.96 tons of litter were collected. Tire amnesty: the event in january resulted in 6.71 tons with 256 residents participating. First free shred: event partnered with local chamber of commerce, wakulla county sheriffs office and english fiancial resulted in 62 residents and 5,000 lbs of paper. Monofilament: recycling bins are placed at 27 locations thought out the county. Collections are assisted by wakulla parks & facilities department. Beautification: planted 8 fruit tress in wakulla county azalea park.”
