FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Prisoners of christ exists to provide individuals with a genuine opportunity for a second chance. We support formerly incarcerated individuals through employment assistance, life skills training, and residential reentry programs-equipping them to successfully reintegrate into society. Our work helps reduce recidivism, lower taxpayer costs, prevent future victimization, and promote restorative justice within our communities.

Form 990, Part III

Line 4a - first accomplishment - last calendar year (2023) poc provided residential services to 32 different men, totaling 6,413 bed days. To put that in finanical perspective, divide teh annual florida department of corrections daily cost of housing an inmate (28,298) by 365 days that equals approximately 77.53 a day per person. Our bed days (6,413)multiplyed by 77.53 equals 497,199.89. If the people poc served just in the residential part of poc re-offended and spent the time in prison, instead of our program, this is the minimum cost in tax dollars in just one year. (pg 43 www.dc.state.fl.us/pub/annual/2021/annual%20report%2021-22.pdf). The employment side of poc, which is now operated primarily by volunteers, created 86 resumes in 2023 and provided other helpful guidance for these clients. 79 people secured employment, 34 of these were first time recently released individuals, and out of that 34, 31 had violent felony charges. (these are charges that prevent them from gaining assistance in most other employment programs) the first time recently released individuals were employed at an average wage of 15.00/hour. Just taking the date from the recently released persons, the amount of employment revenue returned to the city of jacksonville is over 1 million dollars. 15.00 x 40 hours = 600/week %600/week x 52 weeks = 31,200 annual wages 31,200 annual wages x 34 clients = 1,060,800 this financial benefit and tax relief has occured for the 33 years that poc has operated in jacksonville, and this is only the quantative monetary data. It does not consider the qualitative benefits of lowering victimiation, reducing crime, reducint homelessness, and re-uniting families. Line 4a - first accomplishment - last calendar year (2022) poc assisted 48 formerly incarcerated individuals secure meaningful employment, (this number does not include pro-bono and second job ventures); 42 of these clients had violent charges. The average salary for all 48 clients was approximately 12.00 per hour. Taking this amount, multiplying it by 40 hours, per week, and again multiplying it by 52 weeks and the the total number of clients translates to 1,198,080 in employment revenue returns to the city of jacksonville during the calendar year 2022. During 2021 poc assisted 48 formerly incarcerated individuals secure meaningful employment, (this number does not include pro-bono and second job ventures); 42 of these clients had violent charges. The average salary for all 48 clients was approximately 12.00 per hour. Taking this amount, multiplying it by 40 hours, per week, and again multiplying it by 52 weeks and the the total number of clients translates to 1,198,080 in employment revenue returns to the city of jacksonville during the calendar year 2021. During 2020,, much of which was during a global pandemic, poc assisted 70 formerly incarcerated individuals secure meaningful employment, (this number does not include pro-bono and second job ventures); 55 of these clients had violent charges. This translates to over 1/5 million dollars (1,615,432) to the city of jacksonville during a time most employment opportunities had frozen. From 2016 - 2019, 393 formerly incarcerated people were helped to secure jobs. 260 of these inviduvudals were violent offenders, bringing the total employment income returned to the city of jacksonville's economy over the last 7 years to approximately 11.5 million dollars (11,528,192.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Line 4a - in 2024, prisoners of christ (poc) provided residential reentry services to 34 individuals, resulting in an estimated savings of 1,181,804.30 in taxpayer dollars, based on the florida department of corrections' reported cost of 95.23 per day per incarcerated person (fdc annual report 2023-2024). Six program graduates completed our 12-month residential reentry program after being sentenced to life for crimes committed as juveniles. (they were released after a change in the law). Each had served a minimum of 29 years-one participant was incarcerated at age 17 and released after 40 years, while another was convicted at age 13 and served 30 years. Poc equips individuals like these with the tools and support needed to reintegrate successfully into society and live productive, law-abiding lives. Additionally, approximately 70 individuals received employment assistance and workforce development training, and a similar number participated in weekly life skills classes. These services are offered at no cost to those impacted by the criminal justice system and are designed to help reverse the long-term criminogenic effects of incarceration. With duval county reporting the highest gang conviction rate in florida, and an estimated 80-100 individuals returning from prison to the county each month, the need for reentry support is significant. Ministries like prisoners of christ play a critical role in disrupting cycles of incarceration and promoting safer, stronger communities. Last calendar year (2023) first accomplishment - line 4a - first accomplishment - poc provided residential services to 32 different men, totaling 6,413 bed days. IRS990/Desc0LINE 4A - IN 2024, PRISONERS OF CHRIST (POC) PROVIDED RESIDENTIAL REENTRY SERVICES TO 34 INDIVIDUALS, RESULTING IN AN ESTIMATED SAVINGS OF 1,181,804.30 IN TAXPAYER DOLLARS, BASED ON THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS' REPORTED COST OF 95.23 PER DAY PER INCARCERATED PERSON (FDC ANNUAL REPORT 2023-2024).
