“Cchr florida is a 501(c)(3) corporation that annually files form 990. A copy is provided to each board member to review prior to filing. Each board member reviews the form and supporting documents to the form prior to submission.”

“In 2019 cchr florida adopted a conflict of interest policy which was reviewed by each board member, voted on and adopted as written policy. In connection with any actual or possible conflict of interest, an interested party must disclose the existence of the financial interest and be provided the opportunity to disclose all material facts to the directors and members of the committee with governing board delegated powers to consider the proposed transaction or arrangement. After disclosure of the financial interest and all material facts and after any discussion with the interested person, he/she shall leave the governing board or committee meeting while the determination of a conflict of interest is discussed and voted upon. The remaining board or committee members shall decide if a conflict of interest exists. To ensure the organization operates in a manner consistent with charitable purposes and does not engage in activities that could jeopardize its tax exempt status, periodic reviews are conducted.”

“The compensation of top management employees is determined based on a comparison of wages paid to top employees in similiar non profit organizations and the labor codes and laws of the state of florida. The job description of each individual employee determines whether they are compensated on an hourly or salary basis. The board voted and agreed on the compensation being paid to top management employees.”

“Public education & advocacy including legislative activities: cchr florida educated lawmakers on the issues facing those citizens who have been labelled as mentally ill and as a result were incarcerated in mental health facilities against their will via emails, mailings, phone calls, in person visits and through the activation of cchr florida supporters. Call-to- action emails were sent to members requesting that they contact lawmakers on specific issues dealing with mental health in the state.”
