IRS990ScheduleA/Form990ScheduleAPartVIGrp/ExplanationTxt0DURING THE TAX YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION RECLASSIFIED ROYALTY INCOME FROM PASSIVE INCOME TO PROGRAM INCOME TO REFLECT THE NATURE OF THE ACTIVITY MORE CORRECTLY. THIS INCOME IS DERIVED FROM THE LICENSING OF EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS BASED ON THE MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR AND RELATED CONTENT DEVELOPED BY ISABEL BRIGGS MYERS AND OTHERS. UNDER A RESTATED LICENSE AGREEMENT AND ITS FIFTH ADDENDUM, THE ROYALTIES ARE RECEIVED FOR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY THAT DIRECTLY SUPPORTS THE ORGANIZATION'S EXEMPT MISSION TO PROMOTE UNDERSTANDING OF PSYCHOLOGICAL TYPE THEORY. THE LICENSED MATERIALS ARE USED IN EDUCATIONAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, AND DEVELOPMENTAL CONTEXTS, FURTHERING THE CHARITY'S PURPOSE. THE LICENSING STRUCTURE IS MORE AKIN TO OUTSOURCING THE MANUFACTURING AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE FOUNDATION'S EDUCATIONAL CONTENT. AS SUCH, THIS ROYALTY INCOME IS CHARACTERIZED AS PROGRAM SERVICE REVENUE RELATED TO EXEMPT EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES UNDER IRC 501(C)(3).
