Financial Statement Notes

Income Taxes

FORM 990, SCHEDULE D, PART X The Organization is qualified as a tax-exempt organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the "code") and, accordingly, is not subject to federal income taxes under Section 501(a) of the code. The organization is exempt from state and local income taxes and has been classified as a publicly-supported charitable organization under Section 509(a)(1) of the Code and qualifies for the maximum charitable contribution deduction for donors. The organization follows the provisions of FASB ASC 740-10, Accounting for Uncertain tax positions ("ASC 740-10"). Under these rules, companies must determine and assess all material positions existing as of the date the standard is adopted, including all significant uncertain positions, for all tax years that are open to assessment or challenge under tax statutes. Additionally, those positions that have only timing consequences are separately analyzed based on ASC 740-10's recognition and measurement model. As required by the uncertain tax position guidance, the Organization recognizes the financial statement benefit of a tax position only after determining that the relevant tax authority would more likely than not sustain the position following an audit. For tax positions meeting the more-likely-than-not threshold, the amount recognized in the financial statements is the largest benefit that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement with the relevant tax authority. At the adoption date, the Organization applied the uncertain tax position guidance to all tax positions for which the statute of limitations remained open. Tax regulations within the jurisdiction are subject to the interpretation of the related tax laws and regulation and require significant judgment to apply. The organization is exempt from income tax under IRC section 501(C)(3). The tax years ending 2013,2012 and 2011 are open to audit for both federal and state purposes. The organization does not have any material uncertain tax positions.
