“A nominating committee of three members, including at least one former commodore, shall be proposed by the commodore and approved by the board at the august meeting. The commodore shall be invited to this committee's first meeting to offer his or her suggestions as to possible nominees, but the committee is under no obligation to follow the recommendations of the commodore. The nominating committee's slate of officers and directors shall be submitted to the board of directors at its september meeting and announced in the notice of the annual meeting. No person serving on the nominating committee may be nominated for an elected office. A director, whose term is not up for election, may serve on the nominating committee. When considering nominations to the board of directors, the nominating committee shall review the participation of nominees in club activities, and should seek nominees who have had active committee involvement. Announcement of the nominating committee's proposed slate shall be included in the notice of the annual meeting, which shall be distributed to the membership no later than the third week of september. The nominating committee shall present its slate to the membership at the annual meeting. If a member wishes to make a nomination from the floor for any elective office or board of directors, such nominations shall be accepted if the nomination is supported by at least five members in person or in writing. The nominations will then be closed. Elected officers and members of the board of directors shall be elected at the november meeting. The two nominees for directors receiving the greatest number of votes will prevail. For the terms commencing 2008, the six nominees receiving the greatest number of votes for directors shall prevail. All other offices shall be awarded to the nominee with the greatest number of votes. Officers elected at the november meeting shall commence their term of office on january 1 of each year at 12:01 a.m.”
