“The we care physician referral network is a community-based initiative that coordinates volunteer physicians, dentists, hospitals and ancillary providers to meet the medical and dental needs of uninsured and poor alachua county residents. It is a partnership of public and private institutions, agencies and individuals that respond to the health care needs of the community's under-served population. A health care board provides guidance to the program in response to community health issues and evaluates the efficacy of the agency's programs. The initiative started over twenty years ago in response to an overwhelming need of medical services for low income, uninsured residents of alachua county.”
