OTHER ACTIVITIES OF THE AUXILIARY CONSIST OF PROVIDING VOLUNTEER AUXILIARY MEMBERS TO PERFORM CERTAIN FUNCTIONS AT THE HOSPITAL THAT ARE NECESSARY AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMFORT AND WELL-BEING OF THE HOSPITAL'S PATIENTS AND VISITORS, SUCH AS PROVIDING INFORMATION TO PATIENTS AND VISITORS AT RECEPTION DESKS AND IN OTHER VARIOUS WAITING ROOM AREAS. THESE ACTIVITIES ALL CONTRIBUTE TO THE CONVENIENCE, COMFORT, AND WELL-BEING OF EACH OF THE HOSPITAL'S PATIENTS, VISITORS, AND EMPLOYEES. AS DISCUSSED IN OUR RESPONSE TO PART IV, SECTION D, QUESTIONS 2 AND 3 OF SCHEDULE A, THE AUXILIARY IS RESPONSIVE TO THE HOSPITAL THROUGH THE HOSPITAL'S PARTICIPATION IN THE AUXILIARY EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETINGS. THROUGH MONTHLY MEETINGS OF THE AUXILIARY EXECUTIVE BOARD, THERE IS CONTINUAL COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE AUXILIARY AND THE HOSPITAL ORGANIZATION CONCERNING HOW THE AUXILIARY MEMBERS CAN BEST MEET THE NEEDS OF THE HOSPITAL'S PATIENTS, VISITORS, AND EMPLOYEES. SUBSTANTIALLY ALL OF THE AUXILIARY'S ACTIVITIES ARE DEVOTED TO VOLUNTEER MEMBERS PROVIDING SERVICES TO THE HOSPITAL CAMPUS AS DESCRIBED IN DETAIL ABOVE. AUXILIARY VOLUNTEER MEMBER HOURS ARE TRACKED AND MONITORED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR BY THE LOCATION OF THE HOSPITAL DEPARTMENT WHERE THE VOLUNTEER PROVIDES SERVICES. AS NOTED ABOVE, THE AUXILIARY PROVIDES A VARIETY OF SERVICES TO THE HOSPITAL THAT DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMFORT, CONVENIENCE AND WELL-BEING OF THE HOSPITAL'S PATIENTS, ITS VISITORS, AND ITS EMPLOYEES. IF THE VOLUNTEER MEMBERS DID NOT PROVIDE THESE SERVICES, THE HOSPITAL WOULD NEED TO PROVIDE SUCH SERVICES THROUGH THEIR EMPLOYED WORKFORCE. THE OPERATION OF A GIFT SHOP WITHIN THE HOSPITAL WOULD BE CONDUCTED BY THE HOSPITAL EVEN IF THE AUXILIARY VOLUNTEER MEMBERS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO ASSIST IN ITS OPERATIONS. SIMILARLY, RECEPTIONIST/GREETER DUTIES AND TRANSPORTATION DUTIES WOULD NEED TO BE PROVIDED BY EMPLOYED HOSPITAL PERSONNEL ABSENT THE AUXILIARY'S MEMBERS' SERVICES. A TOTAL OF 168 INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY DONATED THEIR TIME AND EXPERTISE, AND THE AUXILIARY MADE A GIFT OF $250,913 TO THE HOSPITAL IN 2021. THE ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED BY THE VOLUNTEER MEMBERS OF THE AUXILIARY CONTRIBUTE TO AND FURTHER THE EXEMPT PURPOSES OF ITS SUPPORTED HOSPITAL BY PROVIDING SERVICES TO THE HOSPITAL'S PATIENTS, VISITORS, AND EMPLOYEES. ONE OF THE PRIMARY ACTIVITIES OF THE AUXILIARY IS CONDUCTING THE DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS OF THE HOSPITAL'S GIFT SHOP. IN REVENUE RULING 69-267, THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE FOUND THAT THE OPERATION OF A GIFT SHOP THAT SELLS CANDY, NEWSPAPERS, BOOKS, MAGAZINES, FLOWERS, AND OTHER SMALL GIFT ITEMS WAS AN ACTIVITY THAT IMPROVED THE PHYSICAL COMFORT AND MENTAL WELL-BEING OF ITS PATIENTS AND CONTRIBUTED IMPORTANTLY TO THE HOSPITAL'S EXEMPT PURPOSES. OTHER ACTIVITIES OF THE AUXILIARY CONSIST OF PROVIDING VOLUNTEER AUXILIARY MEMBERS TO PERFORM CERTAIN FUNCTIONS AT THE HOSPITAL THAT ARE NECESSARY AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMFORT AND WELL-BEING OF THE HOSPITAL'S PATIENTS AND VISITORS, SUCH AS PROVIDING INFORMATION TO PATIENTS AND VISITORS AT RECEPTION DESKS AND IN OTHER VARIOUS WAITING ROOM AREAS. THESE ACTIVITIES ALL CONTRIBUTE TO THE CONVENIENCE, COMFORT, AND WELL-BEING OF EACH OF THE HOSPITAL'S PATIENTS, VISITORS, AND EMPLOYEES.
