Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The center has a general endowment and funds available to be spent are unrestricted, and the center has a parrish endowment, of which funds available to be spent are restricted to being spent on operations in titusville.

PART X, LINE 2:

The south brevard women's center, inc. Is exempt from federal and state income tax under section 501(a) of the internal revenue code as an organization described in section 501(c)(3). Therefore, only income from business unrelated to the center's charitable purpose is subject to federal or state income tax. The center follows the accounting guidance for uncertainty in income taxes using the provisions of financial accounting standards board (fasb) asc 740, income taxes. Using that guidance, tax positions initially need to be recognized in the financial statements when it is more-likely-than-not the position will be sustained upon examination by the tax authorities. As of december 31, 2024, the center had no uncertain tax positions that qualify for either recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. Additionally, the center had no interest and penalties related to income taxes. With few exceptions, the center is no longer subject to u.s. Federal, state and local income tax examinations by tax authorities for years before 2021.

ADVOCACY EMPOWERS SURVIVORS AS THEY CREATE A PLAN FOR MOVING FORWARD SAFELY AFTER VICTIMIZATION, ENSURING THEIR VOICES ARE HEARD, AND RIGHTS ARE RESPECTED. IN 2024, VICTIM ADVOCATES ASSISTED 1,935 CLIENTS, PROVIDING 19,289 INDIVIDUAL SERVICES.

THE SAVS RAPE HELPLINE (321) 784-HELP (4357) IS ANSWERED 24 HOURS A DAY TO OFFER SUPPORT, INFORMATION ON REPORTING OPTIONS, COORDINATION OF SEXUAL ASSAULT FORENSIC EXAMS, REFERRALS FOR COUNSELING, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO ASSIST ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN AFFECTED BY SEXUAL VIOLENCE. SAVS VICTIM ADVOCATES ARE AVAILABLE 24 HOURS PER DAY TO PROVIDE IN-PERSON EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND ACCOMPANIMENT TO VICTIMS WHILE THEY GET FORENSIC EVIDENCE COLLECTED.IN 2024, THE SAVS PROGRAM ASSISTED 406 VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT WITH 6,596 INDIVIDUAL SERVICES. THE 24-HOUR HOTLINE PROVIDED 893 CRISIS HOTLINE SESSIONS, AND COORDINATED THE PERFORMANCE OF 72 SEXUAL ASSAULT FORENSIC EXAMS AND 70 EXAM ADVOCACY ACCOMPANIMENTS. THE SAVS PROGRAM OFFERS SUPPORT TO VICTIMS AS WELL AS THEIR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND OTHERS IMPACTED BY THE CRIME. THIS ALLOWS THE WOMEN'S CENTER TO OFFER A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALING. IN 2024, THE COUNSELING PROGRAM HELPED 219 INDIVIDUALS WITH A TOTAL OF 2,544 COUNSELING SERVICES.PREVENTION & YOUTH PROGRAMS: THE WOMEN'S CENTER, THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH EASTERN FLORIDA STATE COLLEGE, PROVIDES A VIOLENCE PREVENTION STRATEGY PROGRAM THAT EMPOWERS BYSTANDERS TO HELP REDUCE POWER-BASED PERSONAL VIOLENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY.THE WOMEN'S CENTER'S VIOLENCE PREVENTION EDUCATORS ALSO PRESENTED AT VARIOUS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONAL OUTREACH EVENTS REGARDING SUCH TOPICS AS HEALTHY & UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIP BEHAVIORS, CONSENT, DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE AWARENESS, AND BYSTANDER INTERVENTION. WE BELIEVE POWER-BASED VIOLENCE CAN BE PREVENTED IN OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS, TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND AWARENESS. IN 2024, THE PREVENTION MATERIALS WERE PRESENTED TO 3,136 STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGH 165 DIFFERENT EVENTS. SELF-SUFFICIENCY:THE WOMEN'S CENTER PROVIDES BASIC SURVIVAL NEEDS FOR AT-RISK CLIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. SURVIVAL NEEDS ARE ADDRESSED BY OFFERING FOOD, DIAPERS, TOILETRIES, EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, CLOTHING, AND FURNITURE VOUCHERS. IN 2024, THE WOMEN'S CENTER PROVIDED 327 INDIVIDUALS WITH 1,423 SERVICES.
