Mission

To strengthen our communities by caring for families and individuals impacted by substance abuse and mental illness. Operation par, inc. Offers a full continuum of services at locations in pinellas, pasco, lee, manatee, hernando, charlotte, and sarasota counties. Operation par is one of florida's largest publically funded non-profit substance abuse and mental health services provider, serving over 13,000 clients during the year. An additional 65,000 residents in pinellas county were impacted by prevention.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Therapeutic community (tc) - provides long-term residential services for substance abusing males 18 years and older that may exhibit a wide range of anti-social and criminal behaviors as a result of their substance abuse. Clients receive psychosocial assessment, urine drug screen monitoring, individual and group counseling, life skills training, mental health counseling, psychotropic medication, remedial education and ged preparation, vocational education and job readiness and continuing care planning. Aftercare services are also provided to address relapse prevention and assist clients in the transitional process. During the fiscal year, a total of 340 clients received treatment. The average length of stay is between 12 and 18 months. Staff is trained in the science-based practice of motivational enhancement therapy/cognitive behavioral therapy (met/cbt). Additionally, the evidence-based gain (global appraisal of individual needs) assessment is utilized as appropriate to clients. The therapeutic community (tc) also exceeds all client outcomes that must be met for its various contracts.
Activity 3
Adolescent residential center - a full-time 24-hour treatment program serving males and females between the ages of 13 to 17 who have a significant history of substance abuse leading to family, school, and/or legal problems. The center is licensed for 30 beds. Adolescents receive comprehensive psychosocial, nursing and psychiatric assessments, on-site educational services, daily group therapy, individual and family therapy, linkage with aa and na meetings, family support groups, recreation therapy, life skills training, social skills education, daily nursing care, random drug testing, opportunities for community service and ongoing medication management, if needed. An aftercare program is available for youths who successfully complete the program. Aftercare services include group and individual counseling, random drug screening and case management. During the fiscal year, a total of 132 clients received treatment. Many of the clients served are indigent and fall below the federal poverty level. The average length of stay is five months, based on individual need.operation par has been involved with several clinical trial projects in its commitment to being on the cutting-edge of knowledge and best practices in the field of adolescent substance abuse issues. Operation par has placed evidence-based practices at the core of its service delivery in treatment, program methodology and in assessments.

OPERATION PAR IS ONE OF FLORIDA'S LARGEST PUBLICALLY FUNDED NON-PROFIT SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES PROVIDER, SERVING OVER 13,000 CLIENTS DURING THE YEAR. AN ADDITIONAL 65,000 RESIDENTS IN PINELLAS COUNTY WERE IMPACTED BY PREVENTION.
