“The draft of Form 990 is reviewed by the finance committee to ensure that it agrees to the annual financial statements and the audited financial statements. Any questions that are raised are resolved. The Form 990 is sent to the board for their review prior to the board meeting where the acceptance of the Form 990 will be voted on. Prior to voting to accept the Form 990, a presentation is made to the board where the Form 990 is explained to the board and any questions are answered. The board approves the 990 before filing.”
“Any director, principal officer, or member of a committee with governing board delegated powers, who has a direct or indirect financial interest is an interested person. In connection with any actual or possible conflict of interest, an interested person must disclose the existence of the financial interest and be given the opportunity to disclose all material facts to the board or executive committee. Any director may recuse himself or herself at any time from involvement in any decision or discussion in which the director believes he or she has or may have a conflict of interest, without going through the process for determining whether a conflict of interest exists. After disclosure of the financial interest and all material facts, and after any discussion with the interested person, he/she shall leave the board or executive committee meeting while the determination of a conflict of interest is discussed and voted upon. The remaining board or executive committee members shall decide if a conflict of interest exists. An interested person may make a presentation at the board or executive committee meeting, but after the presentation, he/she shall leave the meeting during the discussion of, and the vote on, the transaction or arrangement involving the possible conflict of interest. The chairperson of the board or executive committee shall, if appropriate, appoint a disinterested person or committee to investigate alternatives to the proposed transaction or arrangement. After exercising due diligence, the board or executive committee shall determine whether Fun Time Early Childhood Academy can obtain with reasonable efforts a more advantageous transaction or arrangement from a person or entity that would not give rise to a conflict of interest. If a more advantageous transaction or arrangement is not reasonably possible under circumstances not producing a conflict of interest, the board or executive committee shall determine by a majority vote of the disinterested directors whether the transaction or arrangement is in Fun Time Early Childhood Academy's best interest, for its own benefit, and whether it is fair and reasonable. In conformity with the above determination, it shall make its decision as to whether to enter into the transaction or arrangement. The minutes of the board and all committees with board delegated powers shall contain the names of the persons who disclosed or otherwise were found to have a financial interest in connection with an actual or possible conflict of interest, the nature of the financial interest, any action taken to determine whether a conflict of interest was present, and the board's or executive committee's decision as to whether a conflict of interest in fact existed, and the names of the persons who were present for discussions and votes relating to the transaction or arrangement, the content of the discussion, including any alternatives to the proposed transaction or arrangement, and a record of any votes taken in connection with the proceedings.”
“Annual review and benchmarking to comparable organizations are performed. Fun Time Early Childhood Academy has only one highly compensated employee, the executive director. All officers, board members, committee chairs and committee members are non-compensated volunteers. A compensation adjustment for the executive director is determined each fiscal year by members of the Fun Time Early Childhood Academy administrative committee. Members of this committee are board members including the chair, the secretary, the treasurer, the assistant treasurer, and the immediate past chair. This committee is charged with the responsibility "for planning and implementing a feedback and review process for the executive director, including a regular means of communication between the committee and the executive director, and to conduct in annual evaluation of the executive director". As part of this process, the executive director prepares written goals and objectives for the fiscal year ahead, and the administrative committee reviews and approves these following discussion with the executive directors. At year end, the executive director prepares a written self-performance review and the administrative committee reviews this, and following a separate discussion/feedback session with the executive director, communicates an overall view of the executive director's performance and the proposed salary performance increase for the fiscal year ahead. Subsequently, the administrative committee reviews this outcome with the board of directors. The last review was performed in 2023.”

During the fiscal year, we served up to 350 children across four locations, delivering a research-based curriculum aligned with state early learning standards. We utilize Teaching Strategies Gold Assessments to monitor each childs progress and implement individualized learning strategies that support cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development. Recognizing the vital role families play in early education, we hosted monthly parent involvement activities to strengthen the connection between home and school. Additionally, we maintained strategic community partnerships ensuring families have the support they need. As a highly rated provider through the Early Learning Coalition, with one location holding national accreditation, we remain dedicated to delivering the highest standards in early childhood education. |
