Activity 2

Research programs consists of grants to fund research to advance the care of parkinson's patients through the development of new evidence, analysis of existing evidence, creation of new guidelines/best practices (e.g., through forming a new consensus on a topic where previously there had been no or inconsistent guidelines), and the dissemination of this information through publications in scientific literature or at conferences with an expressed focus on research.

Activity 3

Public education consists of program activities and support designed primarily to raise awareness of parkinson's disease, explain how it affects people, advocate for better care, and educate patients and families in order to engage them in improving and extending their lives with the disease. These programs include publications, professional conferences, webcasts, and our on-line initiatives including our website (www.parkinson.org). Npf has distributed for free over 60,000 educational materials, connected with an estimated 900,000 people in our on-line network, and reached over one million people across all channels.
