Collection items are accessioned on an item-by-item level and are securely stored. It is the policy of the organization that any proceeds from the sale of any collection items are to be used for the purchase of additional collection items. Collection items are used in sharing about the peoples and cultures of south florida.”

“To support the activities of the historical association of southern florida inc. The mission of the association is to safeguard and share miami stories to foster learning, inspire a sense of place, and cultivate an engaged community.”

“The organization is a non-profit corporation which is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (code), whereby only unrelated business income is subject to federal income tax. The organization currently has no unrelated business income. In addition, the organization has been determined by the internal revenue service (irs) not to be a "private foundation" within the meaning of section 509(a) of the code. The organization recognizes and measures tax positions based on their technical merit and assess the likelihood that the positions will be sustained upon examination based on the facts, circumstances and information available at the end of each period. Interest and penalties on tax liabilities, if any, would be recorded in interest expense and other non-interest expense, respectively. The u.s. Federal jurisdiction is the major tax jurisdiction where the organization file income tax returns. The organization is generally no longer subject to u.s. Federal examinations by tax authorities for the fiscal years before 2021.”
