“The reputation of the greater bartow chamber of commerce is a direct reflection of the business conduct of all who work for it. Accordingly, all greater bartow chamber of commerce employees have an obligation to conduct business within guidelines that prohibit actual or potential conflicts ofinterest.actual or potential conflicts of interest exist when an employee is in a position to influence a decision that may result in personal gain for that employee or for any other person as a result of the greater bartow chamber of commerce business dealings. To protect and enhance our reputation, the chamber requires that all employees be guided by the highest standard of conduct in their business contacts and relationships. The following examples have been indicative of involvement in a conflict of interest that violates chamber policy: serving as an employee, officer, director or consultant for a supplier of materials or services or competition of the chamber. Accepting gifts, entertainment, or anything of value from any current or prospective customers/member, client, supplier of materials or services or competitor of the chamber, other than minor christmas or holiday gifts, occasional meals and/or entertainment of a nominal nature. It is important to avoid not only any situation that is an obvious conflict of interst such as those listed above, but also any situation that might give the appearance of being a conflict of interest. Failure to report any questionable item and/or obtain prior written approval may have serious consequences up to and including termination and legal action. Questions concerning this subject should be addressed with the executive director.”

“The greater bartow chamber of commerce, inc. Executive board of directors is presented a copy of the tax form 990 for their review prior to filing with the irs. After their review and all questions are answered, the form 990 is filed according to the irs instructions.”

“The greater bartow chamber of commerce finance committee determines the compensation package for the executive director. The discussion of said compensation package is set out in the official board minutes. The executive director then makes all decisions on compensation for other chamber employees and contract laborers. The documentation and recordkeeping are kept by the executive director in the chamber office. The use of data for comparable compensation for similarly qualified persons in functionally comparable positions at similarly situated organazations is used in all compensation decisions.”
