“Agriculture and natural resources - the county agent provides technical and managerial advice and training for county farmers and others interested in agriculture and soil and water management. Durng 2019 the extension service peocessed 591 soil, water, animal waste, microbology and other samples to the uga lab. Ag news is mailed to anyone on the ag distribution list. Nine ag production meetings were held where farmers attended and gained farming information. Accreditation for 282 of 395 participants.”

“Family and consumeer sciences provides outreach, resources and programs to help imrove the qualtiy of life for individuals and families in georgia. Agents provide training, disseminate research-based publications, and link families, businesses and communities to the university of georgia faculty and resources. In 2019 four servsafe manager certification classes were offered with 39 participants earning certifications. The agent offered financial literacy programs and counceling that served 77 clients.”

“4-h is a school based program open to students ages 9 to 18. The program provides complete hands-on projects in the focus areas of agriculture and stem (science, techology, engineering and math), healthy living, and civic engagement. In 2019 800+ youth were served; 37 monthly club meetings were held; 123 activities were held. Nineteen youth participated in dph star camp performer for 2019 with a camp quota increased by 133%. Sumter county 4-h has 18 adult volunteers that served over 630 hours.”
