“Odyssey relies on volunteer support from a cadre of adults and students to deliver its program and execute fundraising events. To support special events, all members of the board of directors as well as 25 adult volunteers assist with administrative work and event implementation. To support our program, we rely on 15 adult volunteers to mentor rising seniors in the program to encourage college readiness. We also benefit from approximately 70 student volunteers as counselors working with elementary students.”

IRS990/Desc0Odyssey High.Served 115 in rising grades 9-12 during the course of 5 weeks (daily from 8AM-3PM). Odyssey's engaging atmosphere encourages students to enhance their skills both inside and outside the classroom. We hire highly qualified and award-winning teachers from all across Atlanta who teach an academic curriculum grounded in reading, writing, and math through design thinking and project-based learning. Each grade level curriculum is founded on a theme; this theme helps govern what texts are taught, what field trips are attended, and what projects are completed. By providing the summer bridge learning experience for this group of students who would not otherwise have access (predominately minority and low-income), Odyssey ensures that students not only avoid a loss of academic skills, but also, are able to get a jump on the next school year.
