Fair count is dedicated to partnering with hard to count (htc) communities to achieve a fair and accurate count of all people in georgia and the nation in the 2020 census, and to strengthening the pathways to greater civic participation.

THROUGH GRASSROOTS AND DIGITAL ORGANIZING, PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, INFORMATION DISSEMINATION, ENHANCING INTERNET ACCESS, PAIRING CENSUS OUTREACH WITH DIRECT SERVICES, AND SHARING BEST PRACTICES NATIONALLY, FAIR COUNT MOBILIZED HTC COMMUNITIES WITH BOLD AND NIMBLE STRATEGIES. KEY PROGRAMMATIC HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2020 CENSUS GET OUT THE COUNT EFFORTS INCLUDE: BUILT A TEAM RESIDING IN GEORGIA'S (AND OTHER STATES) HARDEST TO COUNT COMMUNITIES, GROWING OUR CAPACITY WITH TRUSTED LEADERS, WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY CREATING A NEW CLASS OF HIGHLY TRAINED ORGANIZERS SPECIALIZING IN BUILDING POWER IN THE COMMUNITIES IN WHICH THEY LIVE. AT THE HEIGHT OF GOTC, IN ADDITION TO PROGRAMMATIC STAFF, FAIR COUNT HAD 15 ORGANIZERS IN GEORGIA, TWO IN MISSISSIPPI, TWO IN LOUISIANA, TWO IN FLORIDA AND ONE IN NEVADA; CONDUCTED 1:1 MEETINGS WITH MORE THAN 800 PARTNERS INCLUDING LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS, COMMUNITY LEADERS, LIBRARIANS, BUSINESS OWNERS, VOLUNTEERS AND OTHERS; IN A RAPID RESPONSE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SELF-RESPONSE RATES WERE CRATERING IN THE FINAL WEEKS OF THE CENSUS, FAIR COUNT WAS TAPPED TO LAUNCH A MASSIVE PATCH-THROUGH CALL PROGRAM IN EIGHT STATES CONNECTING TARGETED AFRICAN AMERICAN/BLACK, HISPANIC/LATINX AND NATIVE HOUSEHOLDS DIRECTLY TO THE CENSUS BUREAU. THIS RESULTED IN NEARLY 40,000 DIRECT PATCHES FOR CENSUS COMPLETION, HELPING GUARANTEE MORE THAN $1.8 BILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDS OVER THE NEXT DECADE; AS A STATE CO-LEAD IN THE CENSUS OUTREACH EXPANSION PROJECT, FAIR COUNT SENT 3.5 MILLION TEXTS IN GEORGIA AND ADDITIONALLY SENT 564,000 TEXTS TO MULTIPLE STATES; EXPANDED BLACK MEN COUNT, ONE OF FAIR COUNT'S SIGNATURE PROGRAMS. AN IMPACTFUL INITIATIVE INCLUDED BLACK MEN SPEAK EVENTS SUCH AS A 3 PART WEB-SERIES, "UNDERCOUNTED: YOUNG, BLACK AND FED UP," DEVELOPED FOLLOWING THE POLICE KILLING OF GEORGA FLOYD TO CREATE A SAFE SPACE TO DISCUSS WHAT THIS MEANT FOR THE BLACK COMMUNITY AND HOW TO TAKE ACTION; DISTRIBUTED 400,000 PPE MASKS WITH CENSUS AND VOTING LITERATURE TO POULTRY PLANT WORKERS, MIGRANT FARM WORKERS, PARTNERED WITH FOOD DISTRIBUTION SITES, COVID-19 TESTING SITES AND OTHERS; DISTRIBUTED 30K+ DOOR HANGERS IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH IN GA, MS, AND KY; SENT 900K+ HUSTLE TEXTS AND COMPLETED MORE THAN 65K PHONE CALLS IN HTC COMMUNITIES; LAUNCHED 'I COUNT' VIRTUAL BUS TOUR WITH 17 STOPS SPANNING 75 COUNTIES IN GEORGIA WITH A TOTAL OF 21K ATTENDEES, AND IN PARTNERSHIP WITH E PLURIBUS UNUM, LAUNCHED 'CENSUS IN THE SOUTH: ROAD TO RECOVERY' BUS TOUR WITH 16 STOPS ACROSS 6 STATES DRAWING 17K ATTENDEES; RAN BOTH PRE-PANDEMIC AND POST-PANDEMIC TELEVISION, DIGITAL, AND RADIO ADS IN 12 MEDIA MARKETS; RAN PRINT ADS IN MORE THAN 35 LOCAL PUBLICATIONS IN GA AND MS; AND INSTALLED INTERNET, PROVIDING CHROMEBOOKS AND TABLETS IN 160 LOCATIONS ACROSS GEORGIA SUCH AS BARBER SHOPS, COMMUNITY CENTERS, MIGRANT FARMER WORKER CLINICS, CHURCHES, ETC; FAIR COUNT QUICKLY TRANSITIONED FROM A GOTC PROGRAM TO VOTER EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT BEFORE THE 2020 GENERAL ELECTION.
