A draft copy of the Form 990 is provided to all board members for review prior to filing the form with the IRS. Any questions and/or comments are resolved prior to filing the form.

Conflict of interest policy compliance Part VI line 12C

Policies and procedures are in place for regular evaluation of the implementation and effectiveness of the conflict of interest policy by management. All versions of the policy are to be retained in accordance with the records retention policy. The board signs conflict of interest statements annually which are reviewed to ensure no conflicts exist.

CEO executive director top management comp Part VI line 15A

During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025, the organization had a vacancy in the Executive Director position for a large portion of the fiscal year. The Interim Executive Directors used during this vacancy were compensated according to their availability and specific responsibilities. Each interim submitted an approved proposal outlining the defined scope of work and corresponding compensation. Compensation for the Executive Director position is normally determined based on a comparison of comparable compensation packages for nonprofits of similar size along with consideration of the experience of the employee. The board evaluates compensation annually and consults other non-profits and non-profit membership groups to assess salary ranges and other compensation for similar positions.

(Continuation of Part III, Line 4a) The SCCA provides leadership development, training and capacity building for community health workers, providers and organizations that support cancer patients and survivors. Additionally, the SCCA provides policy and advocacy education to raise awareness of issues that affect prevention, screening and treatment access for all South Carolinians. The work of the SCCA is only possible through volunteer service, partner participation and financial contributions. These contributions expand outreach, education, survivorship resources and community-based cancer initiatives statewide.

IRS990/Desc0The South Carolina Cancer Alliance (SCCA) is the only statewide cancer organization in South Carolina that works to reduce the burden of cancer among South Carolinians and improve health outcomes for SC cancer survivors and their families. The SCCA convenes partners such as hospitals, FQHCs, public health agencies, academia, nonprofits, faith-based groups, and community leaders to advance the SC State Cancer Plan, a five-year guide to address cancer prevention and control in SC. The SCCA promotes cancer prevention and early detection through community outreach events, education and partnerships with SC Organizations. The SCCA also supports screening access and referral pathways by collaborating with health systems and clinics to improve patient and communication navigation to care. The Interim Executive Directors used during this vacancy were compensated according to their availability and specific responsibilities. Each interim submitted an approved proposal outlining the defined scope of work and corresponding compensation. Compensation for the Executive Director position is normally determined based on a comparison of comparable compensation packages for nonprofits of similar size along with consideration of the experience of the employee. The board evaluates compensation annually and consults other non-profits and non-profit membership groups to assess salary ranges and other compensation for similar positions.

Additionally, the SCCA provides policy and advocacy education to raise awareness of issues that affect prevention, screening and treatment access for all South Carolinians. The work of the SCCA is only possible through volunteer service, partner participation and financial contributions. These contributions expand outreach, education, survivorship resources and community-based cancer initiatives statewide.
