IRS990/Desc0For ending year, December 31, 2015, AHRC operated the following programs:(i)HIV Testing Program: AHRC provides free and confidential HIV, HCV, STD (Syphilis,Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea) and TB to individuals who are engaged in high-risk activities in order to prevent transmission and decrease morbidity and mortality related to HIV/AIDS,Hepatitis C, STDs, and TB. This program helps individuals learn about their status, receive counseling on their high risk behaviors, receive recommendations on preventive methods, learn to protect themselves and their partners, receive medical care if needed, and more. This programalso provides individuals with materials such as condoms and health pamphlets that help in reducing their risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, STDs, and TB. HIV and HCV are offered onsite (Monday through Thursday) and offsite through our Mobile Health Unite (Tue,Wed, and Sat). STDs and TB are offered on the last Tuesday of the month through AHRCs partnership with Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness and NASEM.(ii)Linkage Program: The Linkage Program at AHRC is a free, confidential, and one on one intervention that aims at identifying, linking, and retaining those who are in need of medical care(HIV, Hepatitis C, STD, and TB), substance use treatment, housing assistance, obtaining furniture, and vision care. This program helps individuals who are at need to identify their barriers and connect them to the best care available in the city of Atlanta. Through our partnership with various organizations that provide these resources, AHRC is able to helpndividuals receive care they require to live healthy lives. Upon identification of the individual, whether through walk-in to our office or Mobile Health Unit (MUH) or through our testing program, AHRCs Linkage Specialist who is a licensed social worker will connect with the individual in need of the service/s and conducts a one to one motivational interview. She then identifies other barriers that are involved around the clients need (e.g. transportation) and uses the resources available at AHRC to remove them (e.g. providing the client with a Marta Card). She then identifies a facility best to the need of the client, schedule an appointment for the client, and accompanies the client to her first and second visit. In the cases of medical care, following the second visit, the Linkage Specialist will continue seeing the client for a period of 12 monthswith the frequency of at least once a month. This will ensure that the client will stay in care.(iii)Syringe Exchange Program: The Syringe Exchange Program (SEP) at AHRC is designed to address HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C amongst Intravenous Drug Users (IDU) through implementation of different components including exchanging old and dirty syringes for new ones, distributing tools such as cottons and cookers, education, testing and counseling, linkage to medical, supportive, and essential services, and advocacy. This program in turn helps in reducing transmission rate of HIV and Hepatitis C, decreasing viral load among HIV and AIDS patients, recovery among Hepatitis C patients, and linkage to care for IDUs, multi-substance users, andothers who are engaged in high risk activities. Additionally this program offers IDUs and their close associates Narcan kits (an overdose prevention kit). Our SEP occurs two times per weekthrough our Mobile Health Unit (MHU) and allows AHRC the opportunity to connect with the broader community and promote harm reduction strategies on a broader basis. AHRCs MHU provides clients with the ability to make safer decisions when engaged in high risk activities because they know where to turn for resources.(iv) Keeping Individual Sex-Workers Safe (KISS) Program: KISS uses a science and evidence-based approach to effectively reach and impact the lives of at-risk individuals and their family/social network members by addressing the health disparities of individual sex-workers who are engaged in high risk
