Habitat for humanity of the sanford area, nc inc adheres to a strict non-proselytizing policy and will not base an offer of assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

We believe that no matter who we are or where we came from, we all deserve a decent place to live, that every child deserves a stable start in a safe and secure home. Strong and stable homes help build strong and stable communities. Habitat homeowners build their own homes alongside other volunteers. Because of this we are able to reduce the cost of building the home. In addition, we provide an affordable mortgage at 0% interest for homeowners to purchase the home.

Volunteers include board members, students, and others that assist in the daily operations of the habitat restore, maintenance of the plaza, and home construction.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Families in need of a decent place to live build safe and affordable homes in partnership with us. Habitat houses are modestly sized. They are large enough for the homeowner family's needs, but small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs affordable. By using local small businesses and prospective homeowners volunteer hours, employing efficient building methods, keeping house sizes modest, using donated and or discounted materials and appliances, and issuing non profit loans, habitat makes its houses affordable for low-income families to purchase. Affordable homeownership helps create the conditions that free families from instability, stress and fear and encourage self-reliance and confidence. Studies show that strong and stable households are foundational to child development and growth. When a home fosters - instead of hinders - health and safety, families can flourish. Owning an affordable home also allows homeowners to lift up their entire family by saving for their futures and investing in educational opportunities, bolstering job opportunities and long-term career growth. During fiscal year 2025 24 families were served through home builds and home repairs.

Habitat for humanity of the sanford area nc inc is committed to efficiency and transparency. We communicate with our supporters, donors and prospective donors by email, postal mail, phone and other means, both to request contributions to our cause and to educate the public about habitat sanford's year-round programs, volunteer opportunities and other events in our local community. These efforts help advance our mission to put god's love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. As a result, in accordance with the financial accounting standards board guidelines and internal revenue service guidance, habitat sanford allocates a portion of our fundraising costs to program services. As a nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal taxation, we ensure our donors' money is spent as efficiently and effectively as possible. Additionally, we have certain expenses that cannot be billed separately for each functional area. Building repairs and maintenance, utilities, information technology and other costs are grouped together. We allocate these costs in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, or gaap, across the program (including habitat restores), management and general, and fundraising categories. Finally, some staff members have responsibilities that cross over functional areas. To calculate the time allocation, habitat sanford divides the number of hours spent on a project outside of a staff member's designated expense category by the total hours worked during that period and allocates that percentage of costs to the appropriate expense category.

ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE CERTAIN EXPENSES THAT CANNOT BE BILLED SEPARATELY FOR EACH FUNCTIONAL AREA. BUILDING REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE, UTILITIES, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND OTHER COSTS ARE GROUPED TOGETHER. WE ALLOCATE THESE COSTS IN COMPLIANCE WITH GENERALLY ACCEPTED ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES, OR GAAP, ACROSS THE PROGRAM (INCLUDING HABITAT RESTORES), MANAGEMENT AND GENERAL, AND FUNDRAISING CATEGORIES. FINALLY, SOME STAFF MEMBERS HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES THAT CROSS OVER FUNCTIONAL AREAS. TO CALCULATE THE TIME ALLOCATION, HABITAT SANFORD DIVIDES THE NUMBER OF HOURS SPENT ON A PROJECT OUTSIDE OF A STAFF MEMBER'S DESIGNATED EXPENSE CATEGORY BY THE TOTAL HOURS WORKED DURING THAT PERIOD AND ALLOCATES THAT PERCENTAGE OF COSTS TO THE APPROPRIATE EXPENSE CATEGORY.
