The association is managed by an outside managemnt company, kj backpackllc. Kj backpack llc is responsible for administering, managing the affairs of gta for the overall benefit of the association, its membership. And its constituency. Guided by the board of directors, kj backpack's primary focusis ensuring that the daily activities of the association are in compliance and support of the most recently adopted strategic plan. Kj backpack llc reports and takes direction from the president of the board and provides support to the board of directors, the officers of the association, and the membership in carrying out the work of theassociation. Specific areas of responsibility are : general and financial management,event planning & management, communications/outreach, fundraising,policy/campaign coordination, coalition building, and strategic planning. Kristen joyner works for kj backpack llc and serves as executive director of the association.

All members and their employees enjoy access to the members-only section (resources)on its website, are added to the e-mail distribution list, can access the membership directory and receive member discounts at its conferenece and events.following are the membership categories:urban transit agency member: dues are based upon the annual operating budget for that system as listed in the gdot transit fact book multiplies by a factor of .00045. Urban dues have a minimum of $250 and a cap of$10,0000 per year.specialized/rural agency member: dues are $150. This category includes all 5311 systems.business member: dues are $400. This category includes all vendors andcompanies that sell products or services to the transit industry. This includes consultant services.non-state and/or division governmental agency member: dues are $250 per year.large and/or statewide governmental agency member: dues are $2000 per year.individual/student associate: dues are $50 per year. Individual/studentmembers cannot vote in the annual meeting.the board of directors shall consist of fifteen board members,which shall be composed of the following classes of membership (eachmember organization cannot have more than one (1) board memberrepresentative at any given time and board members may only come frommembership classes with voting rights):four (4) board members shall be from urban members, at least one of which shall be a large urban member;two (2) from business members;two (2) from rural members;two (2) from governmental/education/non-profit (gen) members; andfive (5) additional board members shall be elected at large from any classor all classes within the members in good standing. The election of board members will be held at the association's annual meeting, and the election of officers by the board will occur at the first board meeting following the annual meeting. For both board elections at the annual meeting and officer elections by the board, a majority of the votes cast for an office shall be necessary for an individual to be elected. In the event a single candidate fails to receive a majority on the first ballot, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall participate in a run-off election.term of office - all officers and directors shall begin their new term of office immediately after election and shall serve for two (2) years.officers shall continue to serve on the board and continue in office until successors are elected.

A voting member is an organization in good standing from the urban,specialized or rural, business member or governmental/education/nonprofit(gen) classes: that subscribes to the mission, purposes and goals of the association and has fully paid any outstanding dues and/or assessments and has not been suspended or terminated by the board.any member organization from the urban, specialized or rural, business member or governmental/education/non-profit (gen) classes of membership that are in good standing has the right to cast one vote, and only one vote,in any association election. A member organization may designate an individual to cast said vote.all employees or official affiliates of any member organization are members of the gta by said association. The gta board shall make the final determination as to any issue involved with the appropriate membership category application.
