Also a vital part of the senior program are field trips. Some of these are with other area senior centers. One of the most popular of these is the annual coa picnic held at the coa office in americus. Other trips have included visits to the nearby andersonville and plains national historic sites, the restored rylander theater in americus, and the peach packing shed in fort valley. Seniors also have special projects that have included, delivering christmas gifts to former schley county residents who are now in area nursing homes, collecting and distributing any essential items to families in need, and sponsoring teachers' appreciation day at the local schools.”
