Project south is a community based membership institute that develops popular political/economic education and action research for organizing and liberation. Project south builds relationships with organizations and networks across the us and global south to inform local work and to engage in bottom up movement building for social and economic justice.

IRS990/Desc0Education & Research ProgramsProject South, Inc.s Education programs provide students, teachers, community members, and activists with political education opportunities throughout the year. Gatherings, events, and popular education curriculum sharpen public dialogue on the issues facing our communities. Project Souths partnership with the University Sin Fronteras provided political education to community members through three semesters of courses in 2016. BAM (Building A Movement) Leadership Retreats and Institutes include requested sessions and ongoing programmatic development for strategic partnerships. The Project South, Inc. newsletter As the South Goes reaches 2,500 members and contacts twice a year with education, updates, and consciousness-raising political analysis on poverty, race, global struggles, and youth realities. Project South, Inc. has been at the forefront of popular education curriculum publications throughout the South and nationally. Project South, Inc. has published three workbooks and eight toolkits that include analysis, history, and popular education workshop activities on a wide range of social justice topics from healthcare to the globalization. Project South, Inc. has distributed over 5,000 of these toolkits that are used in classrooms and by community organizations and programs across the country.

Project South serves as the facilitative anchor for the Southern Movement Assembly, an organizing process that convenes participants working in all levels of Southern social justice organizations in order to strengthen movement-wide infrastructure through communication, education, and coordinated organizing strategies throughout the year. Project South activated over 50 organizations across 13 states. Project South anchors and financially supports the Southern Movement Assembly as a convening and strategy meeting that convenes 300-400 Southern-based leaders to participate in a learning and decision-making process to commit to shared action steps.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Local Organizing ProgramsThe Youth Community Action Program (YCAP) develops youth leadership through popular political education, creates alternative youth-run media programs, facilitates afterschool programming, and organizes for education justice. The Septima Clark Community Power Institute is a month-long summer leadership development institute for 25-30 high-school aged youth as participants and 5-6 college-aged young people as Action Team Leaders. Youth Speak Truth Radio Program engages 20-30 people in the Atlanta community to create and produce 26 bimonthly public affairs programs called Youth Speak Truth on a community-based radio station. The Real Talk Stand up for Parents program organizes around childcare with local young parents who are affected by economic and reproductive injustices. Additionally, youth members organize regionally and locally to advance Education Justice goals, including participating in the National Student Bill of Rights efforts. Local Organizing programs includes work with Atlanta-based social justice partners.
