Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The form 990 is reviewed by the finance committee. Once the finance committee approves the 990, a copy of the finalized 990 is issued to the entire board of directors before issuance.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The policy is reviewed on an annual basis with the staff and board members to ensure that they understand its meaning and implications. The organization ensures that transactions do not involve situations that would cause a conflict. Board members and staff are not permitted to bid or do business with the organization, which includes family members as well. It is monitored by (1)reviewing the entities that the organization is entering into contracts with and (2) reminders to the board members and staff of the importance of these entities not having any conflicts of interest

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15B

The nonprofit wage guide is generally utilized to determine the salary ranges for employees working in the non-profit sector. The human resources committee reviews and determines the salary ranges for organization employees and also determines the range for salary increases. Once this is established, the executive director is granted the authority to hire within the specified ranges.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

The Organization recognizes the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by the taxing authority, based on the technical merits of the position. As of September 30, 2024 and 2023, there are no known items which would result in a material accrual related to where the Organization has federal or state attributable tax positions. Generally, taxing authorities have until the later of three years from the filing date or due date of the filing to examine a return.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The Organization recognizes the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by the taxing authority, based on the technical merits of the position. As of September 30, 2024 and 2023, there are no known items which would result in a material accrual related to where the Organization has federal or state attributable tax positions. Generally, taxing authorities have until the later of three years from the filing date or due date of the filing to examine a return.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0THE FORM 990 IS REVIEWED BY THE FINANCE COMMITTEE. ONCE THE FINANCE COMMITTEE APPROVES THE 990, A COPY OF THE FINALIZED 990 IS ISSUED TO THE ENTIRE BOARD OF DIRECTORS BEFORE ISSUANCE.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1THE POLICY IS REVIEWED ON AN ANNUAL BASIS WITH THE STAFF AND BOARD MEMBERS TO ENSURE THAT THEY UNDERSTAND ITS MEANING AND IMPLICATIONS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2THE NONPROFIT WAGE GUIDE IS GENERALLY UTILIZED TO DETERMINE THE SALARY RANGES FOR EMPLOYEES WORKING IN THE NON-PROFIT SECTOR.
