Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Radio reading service turns printed information into an audio based media accessible to people who are blind or who have a print disability. A print disability includes anything that prevents someone from holding a book, newspaper, magazine, etc., due to conditions such as arthritis, stroke, multiple sclerosis, als, or paralysis. Print disabilities include low vision, total blindness, learning disabilities and literacy challenges. Continuous programming is provided 24/7, which is 168 hours a week and 8,736 hours a year to an estimated 20,000 individuals in the triangle area.

To connect people who are blind and print impaired to each other, their families and communities by delivering news, information and special programs using the latest audio technology.
