Of individuals with mental illness and their families at no cost to the public. Individuals who benefit from nami programs represent all ages, cultures, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. In addition, nami georgia responded to 1,535 resource/helpline calls and e- mails, serving a total of 17,510 individuals throughout the state of georgia. Nami georgia held 14, 40-hour crisis intervention team (cit) trainings across the state for law enforcement agencies resulting in 257 law enforcement officers trained. The governor and legislator allocated state funding to expand nami georgia's cit program by moving the administration of the program to the georgia public safety training center, offering 200 classes statewide in the future. Nami georgia remains an integral partner in the georgia cit program. Nami georgia also held its annual meeting and conference in atlanta with over 300 georgians affected by mental illness in attendance. The program included four tracks: first responder, advocacy, emerging trends and recovery. Finally, nami georgia held 6 stakeholder meetings across the state, hosting 171 attendees. Public awareness and advocacy: in order to realize its vision to have a georgia where all affected by mental illnesses find hope, help, and acceptance; nami georgia sets annual strategies to raise mental health awareness. (1) nami georgia supported three walks through namiwalks, a national awareness and fundraising program, one in atlanta, rome and moultrie. Over 2,100 people participated in the walks, a 16% increase from the previous year. (2) nami georgia also offered 224 presentations on mental health (nami in our own voice, nami parents and teachers as allies, and nami ending the silence) to 5,076 people across the state. These presentations where done in conjunction with partners including; georgia department of education, georgia bureau of investigation, georgia public safety training center, local law enforcement agencies, hospitals and many community agencies. (3) nami georgia also participated in multiple events promoting mental health across the state. (4) in partnership with mental health america georgia, nami georgia engaged the services of a lobbyist. This included hosting three nami smart classes, training 45 advocates on how to effectively advocate for mental health. In addition, over 350 advocates registered for mental health day at the georgia capital, with 16 volunteer members attending the nami georgia advocacy prep class. To support its members and the greater community, nami georgia created and distributed more than 300 mental health day guides, a 16-page, comprehensive handbook on engaging in legislative advocacy and background into nami georgia's legislative priorities for the 2018 session. Nami georgia personally worked with 21 constituents who spoke to their georgia legislators and helped to distribute over 125 nami georgia legislative priority packets. Affiliate development and member resources: nami georgia has a full-time employee who supports volunteer affiliate leaders run 18 affiliates across the state. These volunteer affiliate leaders receive leadership training, finance procedure guidance, marketing aid, group dynamic skills training, and resource research that is made available at the local level by the state nami georgia office. Local leaders are also provided with weekly updates on national and state legislative initiatives, program and grant opportunities, and best practices. Finally, nami georgia also assisted affiliates through the re-affiliation process required by our national organization. As stated earlier, nami georgia responded to 1,535 calls and emails that were made to its resource/helpline. In addition, its three walks under the namiwalks program raised a combined 339,303 (an over 18% increase over what was raised in 2016), with 50% of the funds raised by the nami affiliates going back to the local communities.
