“The center has received a determination letter from the internal revenue service (irs) dated december 16, 1991, indicating recognition as an organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (the code) whereby only unrelated business income, as defined by section 512(a) of the code, is subject to federal income tax. The center applies financial accounting standards board (fasb) accounting standards codification (asc) topic 740, income taxes (asc 740), which addresses the accounting for uncertainty in income tax positions. It also provides guidance on when tax positions are recognized in an entity's financial statements and how the values of these positions are determined. There is currently no impact on the consolidated financial statements as a result of asc 740.”
