“RescueWe work closely with our County Animal Shelter -- most of the animals in our program were picked up as strays and not claimed by an owner. Many have been neglected and/or abused. All animals coming into our program receive immediate medical treatment if needed, age-appropriate vaccinations, are spayed/neutered, dewormed, treated for fleas, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, and microchipped with registration fee prepaid. AdoptionWhen a pet is ready for adoption, we take on the role of matchmaker. They are placed on our website as well as other sites such as PetFinder.com, and we take them to local adoption events. Adding a pet to your family is a long-term commitment, financial responsibility, and requires time. Our goal is to not only find the right home for our animals, but the right pet for our adopters. We are a no-kill shelter and animals weve taken into the program stay until a suitable home is found. Spay Neuter Program No More LittersGoal: To reduce the number of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens resulting from unintended or uncontrolled breeding in Henry County, Georgia through assistance with the costs associated with spaying and neutering, as well as education on the benefits of spay / neuter. This program serves residents of Henry County who wish to have their animals altered but have not done so because of the costs. HCHS is a no kill shelter; however, our animal control is not, nor are most pounds. Spaying and neutering directly impacts the number of animals who are killed in these shelters by reducing the number of dogs and cats entering the shelters and freeing up homes for homeless pets who are already born. In addition, these routine medical procedures may prevent medical and behavioral problems from developing in a cat or dog, allowing them to lead a longer, healthier and happier life. Humane EducationWe educate the public on responsible pet care -- the importance of spay / neuter, use of heartworm prevention, vaccinating their pets, etc., through personal contact at adoption events, fundraising events, and school visits; as well as providing information on low-cost spay / neuter options, rabies clinics, etc.”
