Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 4A

December the spruill ceramics department hosts the first shot glass exchange with participation from 58 different artists from throughout the metro atlanta ceramics community. A total of 205 shot glasses were exchanged. The 31st annual holiday art fair at the spruill gallery draws more than 1,500 visitors and supports the sales of more than 90 georgia based artists with more than 2,000 total items sold during the show. Several activations throughout the winter such as the cocoa cookoff, family story time, and wine tasting event bring a diverse audience to the gallery space. Our year concludes at the education center with a total of 934 classes from 101 different artist instructors that reach 7,252 students and 1,097 children through summer camps. Another 5,032 participants partake of our open studios (an increase of 2.5x the previous year due to the additional space available for the program) and nearly 3,000 visit the spruill gallery for our exhibits and programs. With support from our sponsors, individual donors, corporate partners and other supporters, spruill awards a total of $66,311 in class scholarships for both children and adults, providing equitable access to the arts for our community.

Financial Statement Notes

PART III, LINE 4:

The collection consists of art collections on public display that contributes to the art instruction environment.

PART V, LINE 4:

Income to be used for general purposes and the ceramic department

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization recognizes the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by the taxing authority, based on the technical merits of the position. As of december 31, 2024 and 2023, there are no known items which would result in a material accrual related to where the organization has federal or state attributable tax positions. Generally, taxing authorities have from the later of the filing date or the extended due date to examine a tax filing.
