General explanation attachment

About usthe georgia conservancy is a statewide, donor-supported conservation organization. We recognize the connection between the environment, the economy and equity. Since its founding in 1967, georgia conservancy and its supporters have ensured the protection and conservation of some of our states most precious natural places. This vital work continues to expand and evolve.our vision: a georgia where all people and the environment thrive.our mission: protecting georgia through ecological and economic solutions for stewardship, conservation, and sustainable use of the land and its resources.what we dothe georgia conservancy works to protect georgia through ecological and economic solutions for stewardship, conservation and sustainable use of the land and its resources. This is our georgia.achieveming continued success now and into the futureas the georgia conservancy approaches its 6oth anniversary, we will be highlighting various natural resource protection successes of those decades as current calls to action and education moments underscore the need for conservation engagement, action, and advocacy to continue. New challenges and pressures on our natural resources and built environment resources continue to emerge, making the mission of the georgia conservancy ever relevant and urgently-needed. The georgia conservancy helps to foster a culture of conservation in georgia. Georgians pride themselves on a beautiful state with varied landscapes and a high quality of life. Georgians also consistently voice an enjoyment of, and appreciation for, the natural environment. However, georgians, on the whole, are not as well-educated on our states precious places, natural landscapes, and the opportunities to support the stewardship and conservation of these resources. This, in part, creates a lack of urgency around natural resource programs and program funding among political leadership and decision-makers in civic and business endeavors. We will employ a multi-year strategic education campaign to lift georgians awareness of their states resources, threats to those resources, and opportunities to be a conservation voice and steward of those resources is imperative as a foundation to creating the support and pressure for local, regional and state leadership to prioritize conservation.

THE GEORGIA CONSERVANCY PARTNERED WITH VARIOUS RURAL AND ECONOMICALLY-CHALLENGED LOCAL AND COUNTY GOVERNMENTS AND UNDERTOOK HOUSING ANALYSES TO THEN CREATE FUTURE HOUSING PLANS THAT EMPHASIZED THE SPECIFIC COMMUNITIES AFFORDABLE HOUSING NEEDS WHILE MAKING RECOMMENDATIONS ON LAND REDEVELOPMENT, DEVELOPMENT INFILL, AND BUILDING REUSE AS PRIMARY PRIORITIES FOR PROVISION OF PROJECTED HOUSING NEEDS. SUCH AN APPROACH EMPHASIZED THE UTILIZATION OF LAND ALREADY DISTURBED AND BUILDINGS ALREADY CONSTRUCTED, WHICH INTURN PROVIDED A BALANCES BETWEEN MINIMIZING GREENFIELD DEVELOPMENT WHILE STILL MEETING HUMAN NEEDS.
