Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The mission's endowment consists of one individual fund established by a donor restriction. The endowment also includes funds designated by the board of directors to function as endowments. As required by generally accepted accounting principles, net assets associated with endowment funds are classified and reported based on the existence or absence of donor-imposed restrictions.

PART X, LINE 2:

In accordance with financial accounting standards board ("fasb") accounting standards codification ("asc") 740-10, accounting for uncertainty in income taxes, the organization recognizes the financial statement benefit of a tax position only after determining that the relevant tax authority would more likely than not sustain the position following an audit. For tax positions meeting the more-likely-than-not threshold, the amount recognized in the financial statements is the largest benefit that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement with the relevant tax authority. The organization recognizes interest and penalties associate with tax positions, if any, as a component of general and administrative expenses.

IRS990/Desc0IN THE MIDST OF A WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC, ATLANTA MISSION WAS HOME FOR THOSE WHO HAD NO HOME. ATLANTA MISSION SERVED MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN FACING HOMELESSNESS ACROSS THREE CAMPUSES AND ENDED HOMELESSNESS FOR 244 INDIVIDUALS WHO RESIDED HERE AT A TIME WHEN MANY HAD TO SHUT THEIR DOORS. WE WERE ABLE TO DOUBLE-DOWN ON SAFETY AND SANITATION EFFORTS, PERFORM HUNDREDS OF COVID TESTS AND OFFER VACCINES FOR CLIENTS THAT REQUESTED THEM. WE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT FOCUS ON EACH CLIENT'S PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL, SPIRITUAL, AND VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, REGARDLESS OF RACE, GENDER, BACKGROUND, OR RELIGION. SERVICES INCLUDE EMERGENCY AND OVERNIGHT SHELTER, MEALS, LAUNDRY FACILITIES, PRIMARY HEALTHCARE, TRAUMA-INFORMED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, GROUP THERAPY, ADDICTION RECOVERY PROGRAMMING, VOCATIONAL TRAINING, JOB PLACEMENT AND RETENTION COACHING, BASIC LEGAL AID, CHILDCARE, AFTERSCHOOL AND PRESCHOOL PROGRAMMING, AND MORE. WE BUILT RESTORATION HOUSE, A NEW LOW-BARRIER SHELTER THAT WILL PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL 102 BEDS FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN FACING HOMELESSNESS, ALONG WITH OTHER ESSENTIAL EMERGENCY SERVICES. IN THE MIDST OF A PANDEMIC, CLIENTS IN OUR @WORK PROGRAM GAINED EMPLOYMENT AND ATTAINED AN INCREDIBLE 89% RETENTION RATE IN THEIR JOBS. ATLANTA MISSION ALSO HAD THE FUNDING TO KEEP 100% OF OUR STAFF EMPLOYED, INVEST IN KEY FACILITY MAINTENANCE PROJECTS, KEEP OUR FACILITIES SANITIZED AND OUR CLIENTS SAFE. DESPITE CONTINUING UNCERTAINTY, ATLANTA MISSION CLIENTS FOUND THAT HOPE LIVES HERE.
