“Given the number of members on the road and given that one of the express purposes of the chamber is promoting members businesses through networking, it is expected and understood that members of the board may have business relationships outside of their board duties”

The nominating committee presents to the president and ceo a slate of candidates to replace the directors whose regular terms are expiring and to fill vacancies on the board of directors. Such petition shall be filed with the nominating committee within ten days after notice has ben given of the names of those nominated. If no petition is filled within the designated period, the nominations shall be closed and the niminated slate shall be declared elected by the board of directors at the annual meeting. If a petition shall present additional candidates, a ballot shall be mailed to all active members at least 15 days before the board annual meeting. Members shall elect the board of directors. Additionally, the following by virtue of their positions, are ex-officio members with vote - ceo of dekalb county, superintendent of dekalb county school system, superintendent of the city of decatur school system, chair of the dekalb county development authority, dekalb county executive assistant and the director of the dekalb county economic development department.”
