“The tuomey foundation continued to move forward with our plan and had success in building relationships and raising dollars. The tuomey foundation annual golf classic is an exciting opportunity to support the tuomey foundation. Held at the quixote club, the golf classic features teams composed of people from businesses and companies that work with or have relationships with prisma health tuomey. This fund, which is overseen by the tuomey foundation board of directors, allows the foundation to support various projects and programs undertaken by prisma health tuomey, such as community programs that include sumter safe kids, durants childrens' center, wellness screenings, and more. The 2023 festival of trees raised money for tuomey hospice services. The annual festival of trees has quickly become a holiday tradition for sumter county residents. This wonderful event, which is open to the entire community, features christmas trees that are sponsored and decorated by local businesses and organizations. The trees are placed throughout tuomey system campus and downtown shops. These beautifully decorated trees were on display the entire month of december. More important than the beauty of the festival of trees, though, is its beneficiary - tuomey hospice services. Funds raised through these sponsorships go toward this incredible program. Hospice allows patients to spend their final days with dignity, surrounded by their loved ones. Our goal is to provide a hospice unit that will be a place of shelter and rest for terminal patients and their families. This unit will allow a patient to receive the comfort and care needed during a specific time and enable family members to have a respite from their daily care routine. The foundation board and staff continued to focus on the tuomey society ($1,000 and above donors) giving level, and successfully cultivated over 150 tuomey society donors. Our planned giving program continues to be promoted within our community. The advisory council continues to work to help promote and secure estate/planned gifts for prisma health tuomey. The 1913 legacy circle continues to acknowledge those making a planned gift.”
“Endowments enable the tuomey foundation to provide for the healthcare needs of our community now and for generations to come. Contributions to a specified endowment go towards the principal and only the interest from that fund is allocated. Jeanne c. Watson oncology endowment established by the watson family to honor jeanne c. Watson, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2000, this endowment was created to support education, equipment, training, and other cancer-related services in the oncology department. Additional donations serve to increase the fund's value and thus provide expanded opportunities for oncology patients. Dr. Charles h. White, sr. Cardiac endowment established in 2001 by mrs. Charles h. White, sr. In memory of her late husband, a pioneer in the medical field and a legend throughout prisma health tuomey halls, this endowment supports the needs of the cardiac department. Like the watson oncology endowment, this fund is used to cover costs associated with education, equipment, training, and other heart-related services. Community outreach endowment this fund takes the healthful programs initiated by prisma health tuomey outside the hospital walls and into the community. Community outreach endowment programs include safe kids, the prisma health tuomey community health outreach, sumter ycma programs, free screenings, and much more. Tuomey foundation endowment this fund provides for needs that will enhance the quality of care for patients and their family members at prisma health tuomey. It could be in the form of equipment, programmatic, or educational needs. Dr. And mrs. Wendell levi, jr. Nursing scholarship endowment this fund provides for scholarships for central carolina technical college nursing students committed to staying in the community and continuing their nursing careers at prisma health tuomey. Scholarship endowment this fund provides financial assistance to prisma health team members, their dependents, and volunteers for the pursuit of higher education. We provide scholarships each august to candidates that meet the application criteria. This endowment was established from funds raised by tuomey foundation team members.”
