The principal objective of the corporation shall be to benefit the region economically by fostering increased employment opportunities and expansion of business and industry; thereby, lessening the burdens of government and combating community deterioration. Any monetary profits or other benefits which flow to members of the corporation shall be incidental to the corporation's functions. In the event of dissolution or liquidation of the corporation, its assets will be distributed for one of more charitable purposes or to the federal, state, or local governments.
The lower savannah regional development corporation, hereinafter referred to as "corporation" was established to further economic development in the lower savannah region which includes aiken, allendale, bamberg, barnwell, calhoun, and orangeburg counties; to promote and assist in the growth and development of business concerns withing the lower region; to promote and assist in the development of residential housing in the lower savannah region; and to engage in those activities which are in the furtherance of or related to, the purposes herein stated.
