Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

Prior to filing form 990, the return preparer provides a copy of the completed return to the ceo of the organization, for review with members of the board of directors. Subsequent to approval by the full board, the return is signed by the appropriate officer and filed with the internal revenue service.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The board of directors and management review the conflict of interest policy annually. Board members and management verify they are in compliance by signing an agreement stating they have no conficting interests.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The executive committee and chair of the human resources committee reviews the chief executive officer's compensation package and makes recommendations to the full board. Every two or three years the board compares the package to the current market rate by purchase of salary surveys and reviews of 990's of similar organizations. The human resource committee compares average compensation of the center's employees with those of similar organizations. Employees' exit interviews and surveys are reviewed for salary information.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Hope center for children makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements available to the public upon request. The center's annual report is posted on its website at www.hopecfc.org.
